Ship Alerts and Procedures:
Green Alert
Yellow Alert
Red Alert
Condition Blue
Condition Orange
Auto Destruct
This is the normal operating status on every Starfleet vessel. When Green Alert is active, shields are offline, phasers are powered down, and torpedo tubes are cleared of warheads.
Yellow Alert means a heightened state of emergency. This comes standard on every Starfleet ship. While in Yellow alert, shields are set to full power, and scans of the surrounding area begin. Phasers stay powered down and torpedo tubes unloaded.
Whenever Red Alert has been activated, all non-essential personnel are to return to their quarters. This is standard on Starfleet ships. During this alert, crew members report directly to their stations, phasers charged to full, and all torpedo tubes are loaded with warheads.
Condition Blue specifies that the ship's crew should prepare for unusual circumstances. Ships that have the ability to separate into 2 or more sections, cloak, or land on the surface of a planet are equipped with the Blue Alert status.
Condition Orange goes into effect when the ship it set to minimal operating status, usually when all non-essential systems have been shut down and the ship is being commanded by a skeleton crew. Standard on most Sarfleet ships.
In some instances where hostile forces board the ship and the crew is unable to overthrow the intruders, the Auto Destruct sequence will be activated. It requires the verification of two people: The CO of the ship and either its 1st officer or Chief Engineer. The red alert sirens sound and the computer will inform anyone on board the countdown each 30 seconds, until the final 30 are reached. When active, ALL personnel are urged to find the quickest route to the escape pods and launch.
Main Bridge:
The main bridge, located on Deck 1, is the command center on all Federation starships. From here, essential functions such as Weapons Control, Navigation, Engineering, and Sensors can be controlled. Typically, a 5 man crew is used to run the bridge effectively, however in some cases 3 have been used. While battle bridges follow the same layout as the standard Prometheus bridge, they only differ in that they are more confined in area. The command seat, centralized, has a 360 degree swivel, so the CO can have a full and complete view of all stations on the bridge. Directly in front of the command
seat lies the Operations station and Helm Control. These control, in their respective order, the operations of the ship, such as tactical scans, transporters, and shuttle launches, and the movements the ship makes in space. To the captains direct left is Tactial Department, which controls the firing of all weapons, as well as defensive systems such as the MVAM and any changes made in the alert status. To the captains direct right is Environmental Control. To the left of the OPS/Conn station is where the Communications station would be, which controls ship-to-ship or ship-to-station communique via subspace radio.
Briefing Room:
This is the briefing room. In here, the senior staff of the bridge review curernt mission objectives, as well as go over tactical strategies and intelligence reviews. There is a table capable of seating all the senior bridge staff, as well as 3 diplomats or guests. There is a large window to the aft of the briefing room, through which the captain has a clear view.
Sickbay:
Sickbays on Prometheus Class ships are sparsely designed with efficiency in mind. One central and highly specialized bio-bed with a 360 degree swivel and up to a 45 degree angling ability, makes an excellent surgical station. Many consoles line the room, all with a specific function. The EMH or Emergency Medical Hologram Mark-2 was retired in early 2381, and the more appealing female Mark-3 took its place. The EMH Mark-3 specializes in assisting the Surgeon and the Physician's Mate during complex surgical procedures. The Mark-3 can also act alone using
instinct and learned experiences to further to perfect their programming, much like humans do when they learn from experience. Directly behind the bio-bed is a hallway that leads to a hazard room. Whenever a crewman boards, whether through transportation or shuttlepod, they are scanned for foreign substances like biological diseases or foreign bodies. If an unfamiliar substance is detected that the transporters biofilter cannot remove, the transporter automatically beams the infected crew member into this room. The EMH can then be activated inside the hazard room and diagnose the patient without risk to uninfected biological lifeforms. The door to the room is locked with a 14 digit combination, consisting of both numerals and alphabetical characters, as well as a voice verification system and biotoxin level quarantine forcefields. Only the CO and CMO (Chief Medical Officer) know the code, for security purposes.
