| Course Bearings |
| A course bearing is the direction from which an object is approaching the ship. On the diagram below, the object would be said as "Bearing 024 mark 35". The Azimuth angles always have 3 numbers in their sequence even if the Azimuth is below 100, whereas the Elevation angles always have either 2 or 3 numbers in their sequence. As an explanation, the object approaching would be 024 degrees to the starboard side and 30 degrees to the dorsal (top) side. |
