AN UPDATE ON GEORGE YOUNCE FROM HIS FAMILY - Hey Folks! - Sorry so long in giving you an update, so I'll get right to it. In mid-October Dad got up one morning and his legs didn't seem to want to work for him. He also noticed that his hands and arms were noticeably weaker. We got him into his family physician right away. He set us an appointment with a neurologist who performed a nerve conduction study on his legs and arms. The results showed nerve damage, the worse being in his right arm and leg. He said it is a condition called polyneuropathy which is common in people such as Dad who has diabetes and kidney failure. He also has pretty significant spinal degeneration which also contributes in making it very hard for him to get around. He has been using a walker, but needs help getting up from a lying or sitting position. So we've made a few modifications around the house to make it easier for him and as usual he is being very patient although we know this has been very frustrating for him. We were talking the other day how thankful we are that Mom had both of her knees replaced when she did. The Lord knew she was going to need them strong and healthy for Dad. She has been a rock and encourager not only for Dad but all of us.
Just this past week Dad was fitted for his own wheelchair . They measured his hips, legs and feet so it would be just the right fit for him. As the technician was measuring, Dad pipes up and says, "I might as well tell you that I have no butt so you might want to put some extra padding in the seat!!" The technician looked up at Lisa and I, we laughed and said, "he's telling you the truth!!" He never ceases to amaze us, thank God no matter what he always seems to keep a sense of humor! What an inspiration he continues to be. In the past 6 years this family has watched him go through struggle after struggle. I have questioned God a million times and must admit that I have been angry to the point that I couldn't even pray. But thankfully God is an understanding and patient God who understands even when we get angry and frustrated. It's taken me a while but I've quit asking, wondering, and trying to reason it out, and let me tell you what a relief! I've finally learned that I don't have to know, I just have to trust!
Again, on behalf of all the "Younce" family thank you for hangin' in there with us and especially for your continued concern love and prayers. We are forever grateful!

We Love You,
Gina & Family

P.S. Picked up Dad's wheelchair yesterday and we're going on our first outing today!! Where does he want to go?......the grocery store of course!!!!
