There's really not much to say...it was my only vacation of the entire summer due both to time and financial constraints (hey, college was right around the corner). It was fairly interesting... waiting two hours for the Ocracoke ferry and its 45 minute run, but things got better on Ocracoke Island. Much of that fourteen mile strip of sand is protected as part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, which adds to the quaint nature of the village. There are more bikes than cars (or people, for that matter), perfect for navigating between one's hotel or bed and breakfast to the little shops and restaurants, much of which are clustered around the harbor of Silver Lake. The village sometimes suffers brownouts during the peak summer season, which make it all the more appealing to someone who wants to get away from it all. I regret not taking more pictures, but I'll be back there at least once by next summer! P.S. Don't mind the crooked picture...
