Repairs to USS Randolph (CV-15) II
  The magnitude of the job can be indicated by the following new material that was used in
accomplishing repairs:  Two 40 mm quad guns, two Mark 51 directors, 30 tons steel plate,
2,200 feet (58,000 lbs) 12" I Beams, 1,500 lbs of welding electrodes, 7,500 feet flight deck
lumber, 6,000 feet deck lumber studs, 250 lbs oakum, 300 lbs of Marine glue.
It is interesting to note that some of the I beams used on the Randolph came from a
bombed Japanese sugar mill, dismantled in Siapan after our occupation of the Islands.

On the nineteenth Day after the Kamikaze hit, the USS Randoph was ready for trials to test the flight deck.  The test consisted of 102 successful landings on the renewed Flight Deck.  After tests
the Randolph put to sea and operated successfully in the forward area until the end of the war witout further need for adjustment to these repairs Upon reporting the battle damage repairs to the USS Randolph would be completed by the end of March, The Cammander in Chief of the US Pacific Fleet gave a WELL DONE to the USS Jason.
Commander Service Squadron TEN complimented the USS Jason for this fine piece of repair work which enables the USS RANDOLPH to resume their duties at such an early date "WELL DONE"
