USS Midway
Her final voyage home to San Diego.
The ship is just as long as the pier at nearly a 1,000 feet in length.

By the time this shot was taken the carrier had stopped moving. The voyage had been completed.

These airplanes did 3 flybys, which was a surprise. All are trainer aircraft, including a MiG.
After the docking, dignitaries gave a few speeches, including San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy shown here. The person sitting second from right was Randy "Duke" Cunningham, a well known and influential San Diego congressman. Three of the people on stage here happened to be running for mayor.
