His master mechanic degree in ship integrity and structural damage makes him a must have for any engineering department. Personnel File Addendum: Report of Captain Shane Duende I've been looking over the records of Lt. Aenghus, and I must say I cannot understand why Captain Lorric turned down his request for a posting on board the Odyssey-A. In my 3 years of running the SRRS, I've found Orren to be one of my most valueable officers working under me. Without him on the team we wouldn't have completed half as many ships in the amount of time we worked together. While his loss of hearing has certainly affected him, in the three years I've known him, it has never affected his work. It feels right to me to correct this mistake, by making sure that when the Odyssey-B leaves spacedock, it leaves with Orren Aenghus on board. Personal Career Summary 2351: Marries Cristie Wallach, who he met at MMI. 2353: Graduates from MMI surprisingly early with a Master Mechanics Degree on Aquatic Vessels ranging from oil rigs to deep sea exploration vessels. 2356: First daughter, Maggie, is born. Starfleet Career Summary 2368: Graduates Starfleet Academy with a master's degree in Engineering, specializing in Damage Control and repairs on Star Ships. 2370: After a year of personal leave, he takes up a job working for Starfleet shipyards, repairing ships beyond immediate use. 2375: Joins the team which would later be called the SRRS to build a new class ship unlike any other, using damaged and out of commissioned ships. 2377: Almost gets a position on the USS Odyssey-A, but is denied due to his bad hearing. 2379: Helps complete the USS Odyssey-B, and gains position of Engineer's Mate and Chief Damage Control Officer, in hopes of not repeating the fate of the USS Odyssey-A. 2379: A month after joining the Odyssey crew, and upon learning that his second daughter, Lissa had contracted a currently incurable disease, Orren resigns his post. He decides that he will move back to Earth to be closer to home, and to help his family get through this. Physical Description: At 5'6" and 250 pounds, Orren Aenghus is rather stout. His hair is pure white, which he gained at the age of only 35, and his face is always rough with 5 o'clock shadow. He has reddish-white skin, and dry harsh hands. His eyes are of the darkest green, which stab right through a person. Character Description: Orren Aenghus always comes off as a serious and harsh person, though he is much different in reality. He is light hearted, letting humor and jest often get in the way of more pressing or serious matters. He is a loud, extravagant man, who often sounds as though he is singing opera when he talks in his heavy Scottish accent. While for the greater part of the day he is light hearted, great wisdom and logic, and not to mention intelligence, can easily take over at a time of action Character History: Orren's parents, who were wealthy and well kept, always had their idea of what they wanted Orren to be. However, Orren's free spirit and tenacious nature never allowed them. His love of machines and engines took him completely over at the age of 12, when he got his first job toting around tools for the local mechanic. His love for ships had also taken him over, and at a very young age he knew what he wanted to be. He enrolled into the Marine Mechanics Institute with hopes of fulfilling his dreams, and he did just that. He graduated with high honors and with a master mechanic's degree, something he had always wanted. While not always perfect at his jobs, he always strived to be the best. Such treatment resulted in the loss of his hearing in his right ear, when an engine block cracked in half with too much stress, with Orren standing adjacent to it. Shrapnel struck his entire right half, fortunately the only lasting damage was in his hearing. After some time, Orren joined Starfleet after being recommended by his boss on an oil rig. There, he gained even more experience as a mechanic and engineer. His love for his job never got in the way of love though, it seems, as he was married and divorced twice, and had two daughters. His first, Maggie, he often visited and did things with, though his second daughter, Lissa, he rarely saw, much to the disappointment of Orren. He always had a fondness of children, being much like a child himself, and never failed to put a smile on a youngster's face. Though now he fears he won't see either of his children at all anymore, due to his acceptance as an engineer on the Odyssey-B. There he hopes to put his hard work to good use, as he is one of the original engineers who was responsible for the Odyssey-A, as well as the Odyssey-B. |
