Her eyes are dark, wide and inquisitive, her black hair is slightly wavy and reaches just past her shoulders when loose. HISTORY: Vella was born to a Bajoran woman after a brief (non consentual) liason with a Cardassian officer. Her mother was highly distrusted by the members of her resistance cell as a result f this union and Vella herself was not treated particularly well as a child. Her mother taught her healing skills from an early age however and soon became a skilled field medic, gaining the thanks and trust of whom she considered to be her fellow Bajorans. In 2367 her resistance cell was crushed by the Cardassians, Vella was the lone surviver. A Cardassian took pity on her, weeping over her mother's body, especially seeing she was almost one of their own and rescued her. Her natural father was located and he welcomed her with open arms. At first she was distrustful, having heard from her mother what he was life but his affection for her appeared genuine and she grew to care for him as a father. One day an attempt was made on her life but she was found quickly and her life was saved. She wished she had died at that time however as the would be assassin hissed in her ear that he had been sent by her father to end the dishonour he has found when he welcomed her into his home. Upon her return to his home from hospital her father acted as normal and it broke her heart to see him lie so bare faced to her. When alone she confronted him and he admitted that by accepting her he had destroyed himself and that he had thought it would be better if she were dead. She was full of rage and the desired to kill him burned inside her but she did not give in. She left his home and bribed her way onto a vessel going to Bajor in 2370 when things were finally becoming peaceful. She learnt more about her Bajoran side there and renewed her faith in the Prophets. She learnt more about Starfleet while there and decided to apply for Starfleet Medical, she went to Earth and was soon accepted. Her time at the academy was not smooth, many Bajoran Cadets there were cruel to her and she found it hard to fit inso she threw herself into her work. She was rewarded with a position on the USS Meridian where she has been for 3 years. There were some difficulties with some crew mates but she has mainly enjoyed her time there. She had a romantic liason with a Bajoran Lieutenant but he ended their relationship after over a year once his family found out about her and were disgusted. Heartbroken she requested a transfer to another vessel....
