Rules: Each tournament may be run under different rules, such as single elimination, double elimination, or round robin. The rules of each tournament will be determined by the host of that particular game. General rules which applies to all games are listed below:
- Each battle against your opponent could be best 2 of 3 (matches, not rounds), or best 3 of 5,
or best 4 of 7 or even best 1 of 1, depending on the host, game, bracket, & time constraints.
- If 2 players are fighting in a 2nd match, then the winner of the 1st match must keep his
character for the next match. The loser is allowed to pick a new character.
- The loser is also given the option to switch sides/joystick for the next match.
- This continues until a player earns enough wins to advance to his next opponent. The loser
will either then be demoted to the loser's bracket or eliminated completely from the contest.
- If before the 1st match starts, 2 players wishes to use the controls on the same side, a coin toss
will be used to determine who plays which controls.
- The winner of the coin toss will get to choice which side/joystick to play on. The winner
also gets the option to defer the choice to his opponent.
- The player who chooses his side must also choose his character 1st. The player who didn't
get to choose his side is allowed to make his character selection after.
- This coin toss is only optional.
- If you need a sit on a chair to play at your best or if your controls seems to be malfunctioning,
then you must inform the host of the game as early as possible. All previous loses will still count
against you.
- If you are not around when your turn comes up, we will skip your match & continue with the next. We
will continue on with the tournament until either you show up or your match starts to delay the
tournament. If your match delays the tournament before you show up - even if the host
mis-pronounced your name - then your opponent wins by default. In a single elimination
tournament, that would mean you would be completely eliminated from the contest, even if you
haven't played once. There will be no refunds for late arrivals. I once missed a doctor's
appointment. Do you think I got a refund?
- There will be no re-entry for all games. Once you are completely eliminated from a
tournament, you can not enter it again. So losing once in a single elimination tournament, would
eliminate you completely from the competition. Only in a double elimination or round robin
tournament, would you get a 2nd chance.
- There will be no draws. You & your opponent may not agree to split the prize money & quit.
You & your opponent must battle against each other & complete the Final. In the event of an actual
tie, the host will determine how the tie-breaker will be played.
- Each game may also have additional rules that will only apply to that specific game. Check with the
host of that specific game for those rules.
- Heckling a player as he is competing in a tournament will be permitted as long as it is done in a
playful manner. Hostile heckling (or bullying), such as the ECC6 incident,
will not be tolerated. We, the hosts, will define what is playful & what is hostile, & the opinion
of the harassed player will also be taken into consideration. Those who we determine to be bullying
can be banned from, not just the tournament, but the arcade as well. No Refunds.
- Any tournament that does not recieve a minimum of 8 sign-ups will be cancelled. This will be the
only exception for refunds.
