Be Happy, be Healthy, be Lucky, be Wealthy, be Blessed by Luang Pho Thuad! A new year brings new beginnings, and everyone is definitely looking to a great start for 2007. As we look forward to more happiness, health, luck and wealth throughout the year, we can count on more blessings coming our way through our faith. If you are hoping for good fortune in business, good mental and physical health to pursue your career or studies, smooth sailing relationships and overall fortunate blessings, come and be blessed by Luang Pho Thuad for a good luck start to a new and prosperous year! At the same time, you will also be contributing back to the community through helping restore, upgrade and maintain the historical Buppharam Buddhist Temple (Wat Buppharam). According to ancient accounts, Luang Pho Thuad was just another ordinary farmer's son in a village. But his law-mindedness to follow Buddha's teachings and way of life had made him a mighty figure today. He understood that lawfulness shapes a well-behaved person, a disciplined tribe, an orderly nation as well as a systematic and peaceful world. Luang Pho Thuad was the man that sacrificed the enjoyment and pleasures of life for the hope of a better world tomorrow. That made him a reflection of Buddha's way of life. Be part of the largest Luang Pho Thuad Blessing Ceremony in Malaysia, held on Thursday, 15 February 2007 from 9.30am to 9.30pm at Buppharam Buddhist Temple in Penang. This ceremony will be conducted to consecrate the holy statue of Luang Pho Thuad and also to bless other sacred Buddhist amulets, Buddhist images, and Buddhist statues. Through these blessings, the holy and sacred items will be endowed with power to keep their bearers safe, bring luck and also ensure that peaceful and good blessings will come the way of their owners. During the blessing ceremony, various holy chants will be recited and these have been known for benefits such as cleansing negative energy and dispelling black magic. Also, the divine verses bring protection from harmful beings and spirits that might cause ill health or unlucky encounters. Other than that, good fortune energy for business, career and wealth can be gained through the blessing ceremony, and it also brings positive energy to make sure that family ties and relationships are strengthened, enduring and harmonious. Over 40 venerable monks will be performing the chants to bless the people. Among them include 12 esteemed high monks from Thailand and Malaysia who are 1) Phra Thamvaramuni (Wat Khuhasawan, Thailand) 2) Phra Theapviraphorn (Wat Khoksamankhoon, Thailand) 3) Phra Theapsilavisut (Wat Prakchumchontara, Thailand) 4) Phra Rajpipadnaporn (Wat Saikhao, Thailand) 5) Phra Banphotsuvannakhun (Wat Nikhomweng, Thailand) 6) Phra Khru Niphaviharakit (Wat Mainaparam, Thailand) 7) Phra Khru Karunaaknuksatkitchatorn (Wat Huai Ghok, Thailand) 8) Phra Khru Sophonkitchatorn (Wat Lampam, Kedah) 9) Phra Rajthammathada (Wat Theapchumnum, Kedah) 10) Phra Vikcarnvudthikkhun (Wat Phikulthong, Kelantan) 11) Phra Khru Vitheadthammanart (Wat Machimmaram, Kelantan) and 12) Phra Khru Mettathammaporn (Wat Ariyakkiri, Kelantan). The monks have been ordained into monkhood for many years, and have been brought together for the first time in the largest Luang Pho Thuad Blessing Ceremony to anoint fortunate blessings for everyone through 4 different sessions held for the convenience of the public. Thammacak Kappa Vattana Sut is the sutra preached to the first five disciples of Buddha, and contains the most important teachings of the Buddha, living the Noble Eightfold Path and the realisation of the Four Noble Truths. For a donation of RM99, members of the public will receive an exclusive limited edition package of 3 protective amulets. On either sides of the protective amulets are images of Luang Pho Thuad and Luang Pho York - the Lifting Buddha who provides guidance on any uncertain matters, be it personal, business, studies, emotional and so on. The actual 100-year-old mini Buddha Sacred Image resides Wat Buppharam and is one of the main tourist attractions for the temple. Only 1,000 limited units of the protective amulets are available. All donations collected will be used for the restoration, upgrading and maintenance works of Wat Buppharam through a period of 8 years. The temple was built from scratch in the year 1942 by Luang Por Sri Keow, a Thai Buddhist monk. Today, various parts of the temple need to be restored and maintained, especially the main shrines housing golden statues of Buddha and other deities. Other than that, the back portion of the temple requires a new Blessing Shower Sanctuary where cleansing showers of purification are performed. Further upgrading works include Garden of Buddha, Mae Kongka Fountain, Museum of Buddha, Hall of Buddha, Blessing Hall, Monk Quarters and Cafeteria. Through these upgrading works, the temple aims to create a better place for visitors to come for prayers and worship, and also to relax and calm their minds. Wat Buppharam will be the place that houses Buddhism, where visitors can learn everything about Buddha and his teachings.
