Landscape Painting and its history

Landscape painting has been the most popular area of art painting in American art history in last 150 years. Europian painters who migrated to America or came in close contact with American art were greatly influenced by America landscape art. The wilderness of American nature has inspired most of the landscape painters. The firms, cities, streams, rocks, lakes and mountains found distinct places in landscape scenes. Albert Bierstadt, Winslow homer, John Marin, Joan Mitchell find prominent place in landscape painting. 17th century European landscapes inspired the Hudson River School painters who rendered panoramic views with precise details.

Landscape posters were made during the world war 2 between 1936 and 1943 as part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal.
