April 22nd, 1997

Sudden warmth led to record snowmelt near Grand Forks, ND. The river rose five feet above its previous high and the dikes thus failed. As a result, 70 % of the city was flooded, 50,000 were evacuated, and there was no drinking water for three weeks.

April 23rd, 1986

A very late season snowfall took place in the northeast. Parts of Pennsylvania received 30 inches or more of snowfall and 20 mile backups on some major interstates were reported.
