ABOUT The Woodman's Weather Stick is a simple weather forecaster that has been used for over 20 years, but Indians used them many years ago as well. It is a piece of wood that is nailed to a wall and it bends up when good weather is in the future and bends down when nasty weather is in the future or in progress. Not exactly rocket science, but it is accurate! The Olde Weather Bird originated in the United States at Myrtle Beach around the year 1608, and has been used in the swan shape for over 100 years. A large-scale storm is indicated 8-24 hours in advance by a slow to steady rise of the water in the neck of the swan. An isolated local storm is shown by a sharp rise in the water level. Dropping levels of water during a storm indicate the storm is nearing its end. So, here are the short-term forecasts based upon non-scientific weater equipment!! |
