Unto Death- Chapter Two; Outer Senshi Seyia glanced up from the bed at the television screen. It wasn't the story about the squirrel that had attracted his attention. "Oh my God." "What is it?" Michiru had her arms wrapped tightly around him as she glanced over his shoulder at the TV. "So what? Squirrels dressed up as firemen?" "No. The story before that. It... it said that they're dead." "Who?" Michiru let loose of Seiya as she could see that he was about to burst into tears. She grabbed his arms and started shaking him. "Are Taiki and Yaten okay?" "Usagi... and the others... they're all fucking dead!" Seiya picked up the lamp from the nightstand and threw it across the room. He then stood up and just chucked the whole nightstand across the room. "What?" Tears sprang immediately from Michiru's eyes as she looked up at Seiya. "I.. I need to tell Haruka." "Haruka? What the hell does Haruka have to do with it? Seeing her isn't going to make them come back." "Haruka is going to come find me when she finds out. I don't want her coming here, now. Got it?" Pulling on her shirt Michiru ran out the door. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Haruka and Hotaru stared at the radio in shock over the news they had just heard. Haruka could barely pull the car over onto the shoulder before she started crying. Hotaru simply gaped at Haruka, as the normally composed woman started bawling. "What the Hell?" Hotaru was the first to break the steepening silence in the car. "Is this some kind of joke?" "No, no, no, no, NO!" Haruka started furiously beating the steering wheel of the car. "They can't be dead. I saw them this morning for Christ's sake. Michiru... I need Michiru." Following her sixth sense, Haruka didn't pay attention when she pulled the little yellow car into the parking lot of the hotel. "But I thought we were supposed to meet Setsuna..." Hotaru glanced over her shoulder back towards the car as Haruka pulled her into the lobby. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Setsuna stood in front of the liquor store tapping her foot. She really needed to get her license. Then she wouldn't have to sit here and wait for Haruka. Then again, if Haruka or Michiru were 21 they could go on their own alcohol runs. Why did Haruka leave while she was still in the store anyways? "Oh fuck this all to hell." Setsuna started walking back towards the little apartment they all shared and didn't hear the footsteps just a little behind her. Setsuna gasped as the man roughly grabbed her shoulder and threw her down to the ground. Her head thumped audibly against the ground. She tried to stay conscious, but the darkness was overwhelming. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Michiru." Seiya grabbed her arm as she turned towards him. He was still out of breath from running down the stairs to catch up to her. "You are going to come see me again right?" "Seiya! Some of our best friends are dead, and all you can think of is getting laid? You know what? I don't know. Just wait a bit. Haruka doesn't need this too..." Seiya pulled her into his arms and silenced her with a kiss when all Hell broke loose. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sliding doors opened onto a horrifying scene for Haruka. Michiru, the love of her life, was kissing Seiya. "What the fuck!?!" Haruka took off at a run towards Seiya. "Run, Seiya." That was all Michiru could say as Seiya took off for the stairs. Turning back towards Hotaru, she simply stared in shock. The child she had been getting to know was now a young woman. Figuring she was just catching up on some growth, she regained her composure. "We should probably go after them, huh?" "Yeah, I guess. I'm kinda sick of running though, and we left Setsuna at the liquor store." "Should we go back and get her?" Michiru had a serious look on her face. "I guess. We can't do anything to help those two anyway." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Up on the rooftop it was a much different scene. Haruka and Seiya were involved in a blazing fistfight, punches being thrown faster than the human eye could see. Seiya was badly beaten up, and Haruka already had a bruise forming on her face. "Please Haruka, stop. You know... I don't want... to fight you." Seiya was panting for breath in the cool night. And he had gotten a bit too close for comfort to some of the ledges. "This isn't a good place to have a fight." "How could you?" Haruka didn't even sound tired. "I trusted you enough to let you come back to this planet, and look at what you did to me." Haruka threw a fist, aiming stright for Seiya's nose, when he ducked out of the way. Her eyes widened in shock as she started falling. Seiya simply watched her as she fell the rest of the way down. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michiru had enough time to look up as she heard the scream. She watched as Haruka fell, landing heavily on the yellow sports car. The roof of the car collapsed completely, and the car alarm started going off. Michiru walked up to Haruka, took the keys out of her pocket, turned off the alarm, and proceeded to cry hysterically. She was wailing in anguish as Hotaru ran back inside to call the police. By the time the police got there, Michiru's crying had subsided to a small sob, and an occasional hiccup. A couple of officers came out of the hotel leading Seiya away in handcuffs. They had to shield him from Michiru as she ran up to him screaming. "Why? Why? Why did you have to go and do that? I hate you! How could you possibly do such a thing?" An officer grabbed Michiru by the waist and carried her to one of the other squad cars. "Ma'am, I know it's an awkward time for you, but I need to ask you and the other woman some questions down at the station." "Other woman?" Michiru looked up with tear-stained cheeks. "What other woman? It was just me and Hotaru." "Yeah, that's her. Hotaru." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michiru stared in shock as the strange looking woman turned out to be Hotaru. For some reason, the girl kept aging faster and faster. Hotaru brought her a cup of tea and sat down in the grimy plastic chair. The police station was humming with activity, even at 11 o'clock at night. "Ma'am, I am sorry about the timing, but I need to know some things." "It's alright, I... I think I'm starting to accept it."Michiru took a sip of her tea. Hotaru kept quiet in the background. "What was your relationship with the deceased?" The officer asked in as nice of a way as he could. "She was my lover." Michiru thought it would be best to be bluntly honest with him. "Okay... what about the suspect?" "He was my lover too." Michiru could see the surprise on the officers face. "Do you know why the suspect murdered Haruka?" "I don't think he meant to kill her. Who knows? Maybe she just fell off the roof. Why are you blaming him?" "Well, the deceased had an obvious wound on her face, and the suspect had multiple wounds. I figure they were in a fight." The officer looked proud at figuring out such a simple thing. Hotaru, who was now a middle-aged woman, spoke up. "I think he did kill her. He obviously hated Haruka, because she was the one Michiru loves." Hotaru had an evil grin on her face. "Hotaru! How can you say such things?" Michiru looked aghast at the suggestion. "Well I guess I know everything I need to know. You two can go now." "Thank you officer." Hotaru smiled sweetly as she said it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michiru swallowed the anti-depressants that the doctor had given her. It was a mere two days after the worst day in her life. Hotaru was sitting by the pool in a motorized wheelchair, a must in her old age. Michiru figured she was at least a hundred, if not more. Hotaru could barely speak, and Michiru knew she would die any minute. Then she would be alone. As Michiru dove into the pool, Hotaru flipped her off from her wheelchair. Michiru closed her eyes as she floated in the deep end of the pool. Falling asleep, her head slowly dipped under the water. "It's about time." Hotaru said it softly, so softly one could barely hear it. As she pushed the little joystick thingy she thought of how much she hated being old. As the wheelchair fell into the pool, Hotaru sank straight towards the bottom. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Maybe she was trying to save the other one?" The officer was the same one that had worked on Haruka's death. He was conversing with one of the other officers on the two dead people in the pool. The younger one was floating at the top while the old lady was laying on the bottom. "Why isn't she floating though? I thought dead bodies float?" It wasn't until later that they would find the weights and chains attached to Hotaru. "Anyways... you wanna go get some donuts? I heard that one shop is having a sale..."
