He will give an introductory lecture on the plans of George W. Bush, the war in Iraq in general, and will lead discussion and answer questions afterwards. |

How important are ethnic groups and their support when running for a public office in the United States? To what extent are these groups involved? Professor Leventman will seek an answer to these issues and will answer questions afterwards. |

| Monday, March 29, 2004 - Symposium: "Anti versus Anti: Anti-Americanism and Anti-Europeanism Today”
VU Uitgeverij/ VU University Press - INVITATION European Contributions to American Studies - the widely acclaimed series published for the Netherlands American Studies Association (NASA) and the European Association for American Studies (EAAS) - is in its 25 year now. Recently the 50 volume in the series has come out. A double occasion, it may be dear, for a celebration. On Monday, March 29 a symposium will be held on “Anti versus Anti: Anti-Americanism and Anti-Europeanism Today”. Ursula Lehmkuhl (John F. Kennedy Institut für Nordamerikastudien, Freie Universit Berlin) and Ruud Janssens (University of Amsterdam) will be the two members of a panel chaired by Rob Kroes (University of Amsterdam). Their presentations be followed by a general discussion. Then Barbara Luijken of the VU University Press will present the first copy of the 50th volume to the Ambassador of the United States in the Netherlands. A reception will bring the event to a close. Recent volumes in the series will be on display. Individual copies can be ordered on the spot. The event will take place in the Doelenzaal of the University Library, Singel 425, Amsterdam.
