Minutes taken by Marc Ducusin

These Minutes Refuse to Be Titled

(They similarly resist summarisation. Their essence will not be contained in a few pithy   sentences purporting to exhibit wit, but actually betraying the author’s overweening pretensions and shameless indulgence in pompous and needlessly florid prose. They admonish the author that their purpose is to record key details of meetings, and not to engage in the vain bombast of flamboyant linguistic revelry. They deliver this counsel in full awareness that it shall be blatantly disregarded.)

-Book Auction, Wed. & Thurs., Nov. 6-7, 11:30 - 2:00
-approx. 10 baskets - Drama & Murder Mystery incomplete
-draw on Thurs. night; to be distributed Friday; pick them up in the Common Room if
possible; potential problem: Common Room being used for a week by publishers
showing their wares to profs – reason for mass protest? ("Hell no, we won’t go!")
[later resolved: the publishers will be coming the following week]
-more slight hitches in E&E’s dealings with those wacky nuns from Sister Mac!
-Deb. Schnitzler to be our liaison?
-email message advertising the auction to be sent to profs.
-Grad. School query board posted at the back of the room
  -support group needed?
-UWSA - lack of response from them; Erica: suspected want of organisation (on their part) or respect (for us)
-Literary (not "Literacy") Week:
-Doran Reid - friendly Duckworth guy, most responsive
-possible UW Eng. Dept. info meet?
-need to address perceived animosity (dare we say enmity?) betwixt the departments?
-discussion turns to merciless bashing of education students
-Steph enters and then exits.
-back to the Book Auction: transporting baskets from Eireann’s on Wednesday? Erica to
the rescue. . . or is it Eireann? Or Erin? Or – as Larissa proposes in a flash of
   inspiration – "Erina"?
-ever the gentleman, Kristian represents Cortney on the Halloween issue; Earl’s on Main, anyone? General response: no one can make it, save for Hilary, who enters suddenly to rant about her "lull," instantly inciting fierce envy from her swamped, stressed-out peers
-Kristian suggests opening Lit. Week to other departments (Larissa: "Let them *read*?)
-Marc (after responding to Kristian’s punning with unceremonious remarks and rude
gesticulations): advertising Book Auction? (More posters are on the way.) HomoHop on
Sunday, Nov. 10th? (Tickets are $6, available at the Info Booth)
-Steph drops her egg on her pants, effectively ending the meeting (but sadly not
drawing the attention of all the king’s horses and men).
-Reminder: No meeting next Wednesday (Nov. 6th), due to Book Auction

Exeunt & Explicit.

-later developments: "Erina" & Keith meet on Monday; Common Room will hereafter be
an exclusive space for English students & ESA members (i.e., we now have the
authority to expel unwanted others); also a possibility: new furniture; stay tuned. . . .

-Special Announcement: A vintage straw boater hat from the United Kingdom is now
making its way across the ocean, its ultimate aim to adorn the head of a certain
English Students’ Association secretary. Together, hat and wearer shall wreak divine
havoc at the Snow Ball. You have been warned
