Preliminary Meeting

WELCOME BACK!

-Marc: on improving the common room - Keith dropped by earlier & mentioned the possibility of bringing the board to see our mismatched furniture
-Cortney: idea for furniture covers; will bring fabric
-Wilde photo & Erica's baby painting are generally lauded
-free books from Mark Morton meet w/ecstatic & unanimous approval
-Eireann: Holly McNally has given us list of publishers likely to donate books (Huzzah!)
-Erica: we need a permit to use Bulman Centre for Nov. 6 Book Auction (must go to Riddell)
-for next meeting (the first official one), a review of upcoming events
-Karla's grand entrance
-Erica: Margaret Carlisle would like to be on our agenda (whatever that may mean); Erica has emailed her
-tangent: Speaking Crow, anti-social karaoke & drunkenness (you had to be there)
-Eireann: we are on speaking terms w/Physical Plant once more!
-sign-up sheets for book/bake sale needed; Eireann is preparing them
-Cortney proposes that we arrange books alphabetically for ease of perusal
-Misc. book sale ideas: literary fortunes (e.g. quotations from authors), book-shop setting w/fake shelves (cardboard boxes placed on their sides), cookie give-away
-brainstorming "fortunes" could be a good icebreaker for next meeting
-baked goods: remember to list ingredients, include some vegan food
-Auction: must purchase  materials for Harlequin basket from Shoppers before Erica leaves (in 2 weeks)
-leave some decisions open for input from newbies (e.g. devising lit. week theme days)
-lengthy digression on hair initiated by Cortney
-Kristian thanks Mark Morton on our behalf for the books; Cortney has a Morton moment
-James drops by. . .
-Stephanie's flashy belt buckle temporarily arrests our attention
-brief discussion on 9/11 anniversary
-Karla wants to be Sigourney Weaver
-Cortney: advertising; approaching A-Channel, CBC (possibly through Kristian)
-it is conceded that melted ice cubes = gross
-even more madcap shenanigans ensue, bringing business to an end
