UW ESA Minutes Sept 25, 2002 12:30-1:30 p.m. Minutes taken by Marc Ducusin The Book/Bake Sale Fast Approaches. . . (We discuss the first major ESA event of the year. Talk of serious business rapidly degenerates into smutty gutter prattle. Mavis arrives to save us all with wholesome snacks.) -Eireann away doing an interview for Frontier College -we pause to admire the lovely photograph of Jude & Ewan caught -- flagrante delicto -- in bed with two kittens and a stack of fine leather-bound books (Who could ask for anything more?) -go-around commences only to be sidetracked -welcome, Lisa & Jodi! -Erica: we have alerted the elusive, globe-trotting James (currently hiding out in Vancouver) of our dire financial straits; problems coming under control -Book Sale – Cortney has kindly alphabetized the Morton books; Thank You! -we must contact Sara Harms about the books cluttering up her basement (later carried out after meeting by Cortney) -details for next week: Meet in Common Room between 9:30 & 10am to transport books to Riddell & set up shop Please stay afterward to clean up. -Cortney has volunteered to print literary fortunes; please email them to her at cortneypachet@hotmail.com -Marc: idea of giving a free book to the recipient of the fortune bearing our "Reading is sexy" slogan -reminder to list ingredients for all baked goods -following an impassioned tirade against human stupidity, Steph sweeps out of the room, making a grand and most memorable exit -Book Sale prices (tentative): New Hard-covers: $10 (may go down as the week progresses, depending on sales) New Paperbacks: $5 (also may drop) Old Hard-covers: $5 - $7 Old Paperbacks: $0.50 - $1.00 (depending on condition) -Hilary: we should compare prices at different stores & sales (paying special attention to the much maligned book man’s dubious wares) -Kristian initiates applause for the minute-taker; in response, Marc reveals that he is the proprietor of the ill-famed "Attention-Whore" brothel, much to the surprise of Cortney, who takes instant umbrage at her egregious exclusion from this erotic enterprise ("I thought we were a team!"); the two former cohorts (and traveling burlesque show performers) eye each other with thinly veiled resentment for the rest of the meeting. . . -Kristian rambles on about esoteric things in a charmingly sheepish & apologetically Kristianesque manner -looking further ahead, Book Auction on Nov. 6, 11:30 – 2:20; still in process of booking Bulman Centre; possibility of showcasing musicians; Kristian will ask his friend Matt Tapscott, while Jodi will ask her co-worker Dave Quanbury (Matt & Dave being members of the wonderful but now woefully disbanded Tequila Mockingbird); promotion to start soon? -Cortney: we should ask for donations for our book baskets; Cortney evinces a keen familiarity with the Love Nest and Discreet Boutique; tipped off by Ms. Pachet’s interest in 8-man showers, Larissa shows no surprise at Cortney’s unabashed inclinations -go-around recommences; Marc & Cortney share some rather telling dreams (the former receiving a highly fascinating interpretation from the ever-scholarly Geza), while Erin (Gurr) submits some truly fantastic literary fortunes (she was also the only other member, apart from our co-presidents, to help make posters yesterday) -the Oxford-bound Mavis enters bearing sandwiches for all! |
