Minutes for Thursday, 1 November 2001

-Sara and Kristian are donating books for our book sale (thank you both very much!).

-People who are working the early shift need to come in for at least 11 am; people who are working the later shift will probably need to be there until at least 2 pm because everything needs to be put away.

-Should we still have a grab bag of books that will never sell.

-If we are going to include romance novels in our sale, them we should sell them cheaply (eg. 5 cents a book) [just added by SLV]

-We need to get books first in order to have a book sale.  Shannah-Lee will be going to get books from James’ house this weekend.

-It is important that we find out what is in the bakes goods.  Perhaps we could have an ingredient list.  These things are helpful in case anyone inquires.

-Book donations can be dropped off to Shannah-Lee before Monday in the CAW.
-we need to advertise, such as having posters for the door to let people know there is a book/bake sale (Erin has agreed to make posters).

-Everyone is in agreement that our literary week will consist of 4 lunch hour segments (Monday to Thursday), with a special extended evening on Friday, with lots of readers.

-We already have our first reader (thanks to Sara!)--Margaret Sweatman.

-Should we get children’s readers for children’s day?  (Perry Nodelman?)  What about having actual children come by so that we can read to them (maybe we can invite the children from the U of W’s daycare?

-What about a pulp/horror day? (Poe meets Nurse Betty---what about the title “intellectual dirt” suggested by Marc

-We do not know exactly where out event(s) will be held.  We must work around the schedules of venues.  Unfortunately, Convocation Hall looks unlikely.  What about room 2M71?  Bulman is a last alternative.  Erin and Erica will see about Duckworth.  Conrad will see about Convocation.  Shannah-Lee will see about Bulman.

-What about having the Fridayfest at a venue outside the U of W.   Sara will be talking to someone who knows what it takes to put on one of these evenings.

-Hopefully we can have our literary week in the last week of January or the first week of February.

-Everyone who is to assist in set up of book/bake on Monday is to meet in the English Common Room at 10:30 am.

-Next meeting will be at 5:15 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2001.
