Entrance
Appearance: Gretchen is a man of average height (for an avenue such as this), but of enormous build. His skin is a nearly ivory white, as though
it hasn't seen the light of the sun in years. His body-fat level
borders on the dangerously low, leaving his tattooed, scarred, chiseled
form somewhat alike the product of a demented Michaelangelo. Across his
chest spans a tattoo of a raven. On his right shoulder, twisting its
way down is arm, is a tattoo of a shadow vine. Grappling gloves adorn
his hands; combat boots, his feet. His pants match his tattoos, black
as his soul, but loose enough to allow for maneuverability, and an
Asian-style sash hanging down the front. Running down his shoulders and
chest, he has deep scars shaped as though someone tore his arms from his
body.
Moves: (limit 15 from the allowable moves)
Move Descriptions: Gretchen has never been content to simply follow the
example of others, but rather has made a mission of personalizing his
in-ring style, making each of his moves specific to himself. He has
used a total of 5 Signature Finishers throughout his career, and in
moving from one to the next, has lessened his use of 2 of them to a
level that makes them more perfunctory.
Russian Leg Sweep - Gretchen performs a Russian Leg Sweep, but as he and
his victim fall to the mat, he moves his arm in front of/above his
victim, so that when they hit the mat, the elbow drops straight into
their heart.
Running Yakuza Kick - Retch charges his victim, throwing a hopping,
turning boot to their face. A big boot with flavor, leaves Gretchen
facing the other direction.
Powerbomb/Multibomb/Throwing Powerbomb - Gretchen is one of the
undisputed masters of the powerbomb, no variation yet devised is beyond
his skill. Retch has a maxim: A Bomb for Everyone, meaning that he is
prepared to personalize every powerbomb he throws to the victim he's
putting it on. For those pesky cruiserweights, he drops to one knee,
insuring that any Hurricanrana attempts will only add to the force of
the bomb. For the bigger folks, he makes the bomb a snap so that they
don't have a chance to use their size to counter. For those technical
wrestlers who would turn the bomb into a pin, he simply jackknives,
leaving them with nothing to hold onto.
The Balltongue DDT- Gretchen's original finisher, he gets his opponent
in a standing Dragon Sleeper position and lifts his victim without any
rotation, making them vertical, then kicks his legs out and falls
directly on to their skull in a Reverse Implant DDT.
School Bus to Hell - Gretchen's old secondary finisher, he either irish
whips his victim, counters a charging victim, or performs a short arm
drag which leads into a gorilla press. Holding his victim high
momentarily, he then brings them down onto his knee in a massive
backbreaker. Typically he then rolls them off his knee and applies a
Bow and Arrow lock, exploiting their back further, although he found
that the initial backbreaker usually leaves the victim slightly numbed,
and the lock did little in the way of pain. Depending on the situation,
he will still occasionally include it.
Lethal Body Slam - Gretchen hoists his victim for a body slam, but
tosses them down on their chest and face, rather than shoulders and
back, creating a miniature form of his You've Sinned, Repent signature
move. It is referred to as "lethal" not just to make it sound vicious,
but also because there is a very slight chance, if an victim takes it
wrong, that they will roll backwards over their own neck, potentially
inflicting grievous harm on it.
Hangnail Chokeslam - In a weaker modification of the Widow-maker
Headslam, Retch seizes his opponent by the throat, throttling them
violently, then placing his leg behind theirs, sweeping back, driving
his victim to the mat with an STK (when Smackdown 4: SYM added the move,
that's what they called it...I have no idea why).
Hangman - Retch places his victims neck on the middle rope, then grabs
their lower body and hoists it up and over the rope, causing the top and
middle ropes to become tangled around the victim's throat, hanging them
out over the edge of the ring. Gretchen will only save a person from
the Ring Gallows if a referee threatens to DQ him for not saving them,
and even then, only if he wants the record to show a win.
Widow-maker Headslam - Gretchen grabs his opponent by the skull,
squeezing violently (classically known as The Crush) and moving the
victim around by the hold. After a second or two, he wrenches the
victim's neck to the side, causing neck damage, then jumps forward and
up, using his size to out-leverage the victim, driving their head
backwards and down into the mat.
Capture Suplex - usually used as a reversal to kick maneuvers, Gretchen
grabs his victim by the leg, reaches over and hooks their head and arm,
locking his hands together, then lifts them up and over, dropping them
on their shoulders and neck.
Back Body Drop Driver - Retch tucks his shoulder into his opponent's
stomach and presses up on his opponent's legs, tossing them into the
air, then reaching up and grabbing them by the ankles so that they can't
flip all the way over. He proceeds to fall with them, ensuring his
victim lands on their neck and shoulders.
Fisherman's Suplex Buster - Retch grabs his victim's head then hooks
their leg and lifts them vertically, then drops to a sit, snapping their
neck on top of his shoulder.
Finisher:
Signature Move: The Hive: Gretchen places his victim in a Torture Rack,
bouncing them for a time, then pushing their legs up into the air while
turning and falling backwards, never releasing their head, finishing the
move in a massive Reverse Implant DDT.
Secondary Signature Move: The Retched: Gretchen gets his victim in a
reverse double-under-hook and rotates them over, reaching down and
grabbing their ankles, then standing up, stretching his opponent's back
across his shoulder, using the arms to control, and the ankles to gain
leverage (like an inverted Gory Special). Occasionally he jumps,
bouncing his victim, further stretching the spine. If they refuse to
submit, he drops to a sit, releasing their ankles and legs, and ending
the move with a vertebreaker.
You've Sinned, Repent: There are several ways to begin this move, but they
all end the same way: Gretchen's victim is slammed down upon their face and
chest in a reverse powerbomb. Traditionally, Retch begins the move just
like a powerbomb, but with his opponent facing up, rather than down when he
lifts them. The first variation is used on a downed victim who lies on
their belly: Gretchen lifts their legs, placing their ankles against his
shoulder, then grabs their wrists and stands, hoisting them up with him,
only to quickly slam them back down. The other common variation is for him
to stand behind his victim and to place both his arms between their legs,
then to lift them up and shift his grip, slamming them face first into the
mat.
Background: It doesn't matter, knowing his history will not spare you his wrath. Seeing his pedigree of titles will not prepare you for the sheer
brutality that will be brought upon you. Watching his matches will only
confirm to you that all Gretchen really is, is an enigma wrapped in
meat. Though others have fancy titles to add some credence to their
claims, few would dispute Gretchen's inhuman strength or capacity for
violence. He is content to let others call themselves the strongest or
the most extreme, because their pathetic titles won't save them.
Fighting Gretchen is an exercise in futility, bringing your best amounts
to nothing. Get used to it. He's been beaten before, maybe he'll be
beaten again, but, if I were you, I wouldn't count on it.
