Aral Sea Art Exhibit: Rafael Matevosian
Okay, so I'm one of those people who likes art if it looks pretty. I'm not so into the political or spiritual meaning and/or significant of art.  However, I can't help but feel sad when I see these paintings, since they all depict the past history of the Aral Sea, i.e. when it used to be a resource people could depend on for their livelihoods.. where boats could float..

But also, the following three are my favorite because they're all nice looking.  Rafael lived in Karakalpakstan (where the Aral Sea is located) and remembers the Sea fondly, as all current and past residents do...
