Appearance Mods: Phase 1
This is the first stage of my appearance mods, basically giving the car a full facelift. Only cost me about 25 bucks for all the supplies, paint and everything. Used 2 rolls of blue painters tape, and 2 rolls of 3 inch wide masking tape. If your parents save christmas wrapping paper, nows the time to use it. It makes masking everything nice and easy. Basically, for the molding itself, I (should have) masked EVERYTHING in sight, overspray is the enemy. Once masked off, I scuffed up the molding and sprayed 2 or 3 coats of primer on all the molding and let that cure for a day or so. I sprayed about 3 coats of the Duplicolor and let that cure for a week or so. For around the windows, it was the same, but I used "Low Gloss Black" engine enamel and the engine paint didnt need a primer. Mask everything in sight, and paint, a put about 3 coats on the chrome trim. Life is much easier if you remove the mirrors. Take off the door panel, the little plastic triangle, 3 10mm bolts and an electric clip and its off. After that, I took the mirror apart and painted it in the same way i painted my molding.
