“if ever there was a prize for the most under-rated band on the south coast, then weymouth trio vext would win hands down. the first song was a bit of a disconcerting as guitarist paul’s hand was a blur with no discernible audio result but that was soon remedied. vext are an astonishing blend of deep wound; early minutemen and maybe a smidge of (first two eps) rudimentary peni. if you’ve not heard them recently don’t judge them on their early recordings, because vext are now pretty special indeed.”

kris roe’s love-lorn punks upstaged by support bands

“on a night like this you really feel like going up to the support bands and giving them a big hug. the bad brains-style racket of dorset-based trio vext and the poppy euro-punk of everest (germany) and snowdogs (london via finland and america) are saving graces on a night that would otherwise have been a total washout.”
