Etheldred 4 Family

Born: Abt 1712
Married: Martha ? Northampton Co
Mother of other children: Mary O'Quinn Edgecombe Co
Died: 30 Mar 1777
Parent: William and Faith Gray Ruffin

It is believed that Etheldred owned land in both Northampton and Edgecombe County. He and Martha, his legitimate wife lived in Northampton, and Mary O'Quinn and her children lived in Edgecombe County. As noted in his will, he names his son, John Ruffin, alias O'Quinn and this "alias O'Quinn" name continues into at least the next generation until it is dropped for the Ruffin name. The O'Quin children were probably older than Martha's children. When their father, Etheldred died at about age 65, Martha's sons, Bartholomew was only 16 and Etheldred was only 14. (see Apprentice ship below) Uncle Samuel took the older boy, Bartholomew, but asked his son-in-law, Jesse DeLoach to apprentice the younger, Etheldred.
