| KJ and a campaign to force his hand. 18 Oct 03 CWG source: V: the saga With the launch of a new drive to preserve a V that seems destined for the 80's dust bin, and with some fans upset over lost characters and story lines, a new writing campaign ( see here ) has arisen and some may wonder what the validity and possible consequences of such a campaign (which appears to be a heart-felt attempt by some fans to have their voices heard) might be. Well, it appears that fans of Kenneth Johnson's vision need not fear as the network emphatically "feels no pressure from the fans" who might want their own take on the story according to Mr. Johnson. In fact he expects not to please everyone and is simply "trying to craft a story that builds off my original concept and carries the themes I started with to a new and intriguing level". He ends by hoping that "the majority of fans will enjoy the results". If other campaigns to bring about V's return to the small screen had any effect on the network (although that seems unlikely due to the timing and success of V's DVD launch and the subsequent announcement from Kenneth Johnson of it's return) it appears that fans wanting their own particular take on what V should be are in for a futile run. This time the network seems happy with its shared approach with KJ in wanting a new and more relevant V for our changed times. While some may want a return to yesterday's V, he seems determined to return his brand of magic once again to the series for the millions who first fell in love with V.
