THE LONG AND PATIENT WAIT 04 Nov 03 CWG source: Iliana's V Page Proving once again his is the voice of caution (and possibly trying to calm the wave of fan enthusiasm), Kenneth Johnson has told Iliana's site that much work is yet in store before V's return is close to becoming a reality. Along every step of the way, he has tried to keep the fan's excitement to a slow simmer, knowing that many issues can arise from many directions during the process of bringing a show to the tube that can easily derail everything. First up- the final draft which KJ has already submitted must still be approved. He says, very tellingly that he must approve their notes which he describes as a very challenging situation. Perhaps this is a slight nod to the fact that he might not be willing to tinker much with his vision if the network demands too many unwanted changes. KJ is well known for his tough stand over his vision of V when he left the show shortly after the original series, due to Network demands to cut back on the costs- a situation KJ saw as a severe dilution of the story. Next must come a budget based on an approved script followed by negotiations concerning licence fees and the financial nuts and bolts to determine if any of it is at all finacially feasible. Great hurdles indeed. Perhaps the most contentious issue however may concern what he describes as "star casting", when the network may demand a certain ammount of high profile and well-known "stars". All this is simply a part of the long haul of American network TV and many months still lie ahead before any of us know for certain that our favourite human eating lizards will be making a return visit to our planet. Stay tuned... more to come |
