District VI Virginia DAR 
Good Works 
  Preserved the loose marriage records of Albemarle County as part of the Preservation of Records project for 2005-2006.   
   Co-hosted the Flag Day Celebration at Hunter Holmes McGuire Hospital in Richmond, VA for the 9th consecutive year.                                              
  Supported District-wide with the funding of the restoration of the James and Dolley Madison monuments and the Montpelier Cemetery, Orange County   (State Regent's Project 1998 - 2001)               
Distributed flags and flag booklets to new citizens during ceremonies at Monticello and Charlottesville. Awarded DAR Good Citizenship and American History medals to local elementary and secondary school students, a bronze ROTC and a gold NROTC award at Univeristy of Virginia. Planted dogwood tree at Baker-Butler Elementary School. Gave 10 gift subscriptions of the DAR American Spirit Magazine. Award received for Adopt An Object Fund - Albemarle Chapter.  
Donated American Spirit Magazine subscriptions to two libraries and made a donation to the Frontier Cultural Museum in Staunton. Commemorated Memorial Day and a July 4th Revolutionary War Soldier Memorial. Submitted records for National Genealogical Records Committee enhancing the DAR Library collection. - Beverley Manor Chapter  
Donated the latest edition of the Patriot Index to the Staunton Public Library. Contributed to the Veteran's Fund. - Colonel Thomas Hughart Chapter 
Active on the Flag Day Committee at McGuire Veterans Medical Center and Started a Pass the Hat tradition for veterans and continued to collect postage stamps as well. Award the Good Citizens Award annually to High School Seniors in Culpeper County, host a special tea with them and their families each Spring.  Work with Culpeper County Boy Scouts in projects to earn their Eagle Scout status. - Culpeper Minutemen Chapter 
Participated in a special holiday dinner and presentation of Revolutionary era music. Supported the DAR Library and Siemes Microfilm Center. - Fauquier Court House Chapter. 
Placed a wreath on the Revolutionary War marker at the Warren County Court House. Mailed 2910 phone card minutes to the Winchester National Guard unit deployed in Afghanistan. - Front Royal Chapter 
Gave awards including a $500 Alison Phillips Hamilton Memorial Scholarship, which was established in memory of Alison Hamilton, a dedicated and beloved member of the Jack Jouett Chapter by her husband in 1973. The scholarship is awarded annually to a member of the graduating class of Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, whose principle interest lies in the field of music and/or American History. Volunteered 375 hours to promote literacy and supported the Crossnore School Library. Sponsored the winner of the high school Christopher Columbus Contest- Imperfect Hero. Sponsor of the Peter Jefferson Chapter C.A.R. - Jack Jouett Chapter. 
Supported Salem VA Hospital, and visited McGuire, Martinsburg, WV Veterans Hospitals during the year. Co-sponsored the annual Fourth of July parade. Sponsors White House Society, Children of the American Revolution. - John Rhodes Chapter 
Promoted Constitution Week with a display consisting of flags, pictures, antiques, children and adult books and copies of the Constitution. Transcribed DAR Library Genealogical Records Committee books - Louisa Court House Chapter. 
Re-interred the remains of the founders of Harrisonburg in the Woodbine Cemetery. A member received the NSDAR Historic Preservation award for her efforts on this project. Sponsored State DAR Good Citizens Award Winner - Massanutton Chapter 
Presented American flags to Madison County schools and Madison Public Library. Members continue indexing in The Master Every Name Index for the DAR in Washington, D.C. even including one member living in Texas. Transcribed and Indexed two Madison County, Virginia Order Books for the Genealogical Records Committee. - Montpelier Chapter                      
District VI Chairman of the DAR Speakers Staff traveled the most distance of 740 miles, speaking 6 times.  Member authored A Century of Service, The Story of the DAR, 1991. In conjunction with the Hottle-Keller Memorial, Inc. annual reunion, placed DAR grave markers for two Revolutionary soldiers, John Jacob Hottle (1752-1820) and Joseph Hottle (1761-1814) at the Keller Memorial Cemetery, Mount Olive, Shenandoah County. Sponsors Peter Muhlenberg Society, Children of the American Revolution. .- Narrow Passage Chapter 
Participated in the Celebration of Liberty Parade in colonial costumes. Sponsored essay contests and recognized Good Citizens at the local schools. - Natural Bridge Chapter. 
Participated in the opening ceremonies of the Point of Fork Revolutionary War reenactment. - Point of Fork Chapter  
Presented pins and certificates for Good Citizens. Collected 436 labels for the Tamassee DAR School. - Rainbow Ridge Chapter 
Donated money, clothing and labels for our DAR schools. Attained Champion status in the Tamassee School Children's Fund. Awarded the NSDAR Conservation Award Medal and Certificate to a Nelson County recipient at the Trillium House, Wintergreen Nature Foundation for outstanding conservation service over the past 28 years. Award the Good Citizens Award and a $50.00 Bond to a Nelson County High School Senior each year - Rockfish Valley Chapter 
Located and recorded the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers in Bath and Highland Counties. - Sarah Murray Lewis Chapter 
Honored veteran patients on Flag Day with visits and donations. Presented wreath for Veterans' Day ceremony. - Shadwell Chapter 
Through Junior American Citizens (JAC) clubs and contests , DAR offers direct service to every school-age child in the United States, promoting good citizenship and appreciation of American heritage and history. This chapter is actively involved in sponsoring JAC clubs in Shenandoah County schools and youth groups. The District VI Chairman of this committee is a member of Shenandoah River Chapter. 
Sponsored a craft table for children at the National Christmas Tree stop-over at Montpelier. Children made snowman and raindeer and received a book on genealogy, which a member made for them. Donated 125 videos to nursing home patients at McGuire Medical Center. - Susannah Chandler Chapter 
Reads to preschool children to support the Literacy Challenge. - Virginia Frontier Chapter 
Scheduled to Charter December 2006. Organized with 28 members, increased membership to 36 including 9 juniors, median age is 47. Active Docents at Trinity Episcopal Church, which was formerly Augusta Parish Church in Staunton, VA. - Augusta Parish Chapter
