Change the main menu screen, modifying the gui.pak
Do you want to upload your files on the net so that other users can use it and install it easily? Of course you want but you have to explain them that they have to create some folders and extract those files and blah blah blah to install it. In this tutorial i will show you hot to pak files using nicoDE Gothic3 PakDir so that you can create a *.p0x file (x=number) and it's gonna be easy to upload the file and even easier for everyone to install it!. Special Thanks to mistress larisa from World of Gothic, without her i wouldn't create this tutorial and maybe this site because, thanks to her, i started modding the game. Here are the instructions. In the tutorial i'll show how to pak the file you have created in the main menu tutorial here
Step 1 : Download G3PakDir Step 2 : Extract the two files in C:\G3 Step 3 : Create a folder in C:\ and name it "mod" where you gonna copy-paste ONLY the dds file you created in the tutorial before.So now we have a C:\G3 and a C:\mod NOTE : Why ONLY? Because if you have more files in this folder the paker will pak them too in the p0x file and you're gonna have problem Step 4 : Now open the command line (ms dos)! Don't get dissapointed if you don't know a thing about dos. I'll only tell you that i don't know either. Go start>run and write cmd if you don't know how to open the command promt. Step 5 : IF you have created your folder in D: drive then write D: Step 6 : Write "cd G3" (without "") so that it'll go to the .....G3>_ Step 7 : Then write "G3PakDir C:\mods" Step 8 :Hopefully if you were right a new mod.p00 file will be created on C:\ Step 9 : Almost ready. Rename your mod.p00 to gui.00 NOTE : Why renaming it to gui? We renamed it to gui because the dds file was in the gui pak remember? If it was a QUEST file we would rename the new file Quests.p00 for example Step 10: If you go to your GothIcIII data folder you'll notice that there is already a gui.p00 file. That's what i mean when i say file.p0x. You have to rename the folder so that it will be +1 from the previous one. What i mean? You have to rename it to gui.p01 if you want it to work. In the future when you want to create a new gui you'll rename it to gui.p02. Ok? Step 11: Now check if it works in the game. Delete the file in gui>icons>compiled and start the game. If it works you are ready too... Step 12: Upload the game!!! NOTE : Don't forget to tell to the fans that they have to change the number in *.p0x |
||||||||||||
If it didn't work!: Create a folder mods>icons>compiled and paste the dds there. Then pak the mod folder-so that it'll pak together the other two folders and the file. Then continue from Step 9 |

The result: Here it's a thread (in World of gothic forum) where i have posted the Xardas Menu i have created. But to run it you have to install Gothic III Starter by rockfest.
