Tea Time between two Brazilians: Gazelle & Neandro | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gazelle - When did you realize that hair styling was what artistically you wanted to do?
Neandro - I have always liked fashion and art, but when I was 18 years old I went to London to study English that I discovered my passion for the profession. London is a city where you open all the channels for the sake of art. You get the freedom to express yourself anyway you wish. Gazelle - What are some of the highlights of your career in London? Neandro - There are so many...to become a Top hairstylist in one of the biggest companies in the world (Toni & Guy). To have known and worked with Leigh Bowery, Mathew Glamorre, Michael Kostiff, Bjork and many more... Gazelle - How does your creative process begin? Neandro - The ideas for my collections depend on the moment and where I am, they pop out. I can be in an art gallery, a fashion show, a concert, on the streets, in the subway, in a building (architecture). Gazelle - What are the obstacles for hair styling in Brazil? Neandro - The biggest obstacle is that in Brazil only the mainstream is given space. The young generation should have more support, more modern ideas, things that are not in the magazines or window stores, in the high street. Gazelle - What do you think of the style of the Brazilian women in general? Neandro - They are changing, but there are still a lot to do.
