* Exported from MasterCook Mac * Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe By : Great Cookies You Can Bake...by Lois Hill (1990) Serving Size : 60 Preparation Time :0:30 Categories : Chocolate Cookies Family Favorites Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate 3/4 cup unsalted butter -- softened 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups sifted flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup walnuts -- coarsely chopped 7 1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate chips Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease two large baking sheets with butter or vegetable shortening. Melt the chocolate in the top of a double boiler over hot water, stirring constantly. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars. Beat in the eggs and the vanilla extract. Mix well. Stir in the melted chocolate. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the batter. Add the chopped walnuts and chocolate morsels to the batter. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of batter onto the baking sheets, about 2” apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies have browned around the edges. Remove from the oven. After the cookies have cooled for 2 to 3 minutes, but are still warm to the touch, use a spatula to transfer them to wire racks to cool completely. CHOCOLATE BUTTERSCOTCH CHIP COOKIES: Follow the above recipe, substituting butterscotch morsels for the semisweet chocolate morsels.
