Prologue

"Damn," Alexis whispered, as her car came to a stop by the side of the road.  She was on her way home.  Tomorrow was her wedding day.  She looked down at her gas hand and sighed.  She was out of gas.  "Shit!"  With making the last minute wedding plans, she had forgotten to fill up the car.

Alexis took out her phone to call Ned, but the battery was dead.  "Great!" she whispered to herself, as she climbed out the car.  She would have to either walk back to the gatehouse, which was still a few miles away or back into town, which wasn't any closer.  Alexis decided to head for town.

She hadn't been walking long when a car passed by her.  It was speeding, besides she wouldn’t have taken a ride from a stranger anyway.

The two men in the car pulled the car over about a mile away from Alexis and waited for her to walk by.

Alexis finally came upon the car, suddenly feeling uneasy.  She looked into the car window as she walked by but realized, it was empty.  She breathed a sigh of relief.

But her relief was short lived.  The men from the car, emerged from the bushes and grabbed her.  Alexis screamed but one of the men covered her mouth his hand.  They dragged her, struggling to free herself, into a nearby field.

Alexis didn’t know how long she lay in the dark, curled into a defensive, fetal position.  She was numbed by the violation of her body.  She finally uncoiled her body and managed to pull herself onto her hands and knees.

She crawled forward a few feet and found one of her shoes, that had been kicked off at some point during the attack.  She couldn't find the other one but it didn't matter.  Nothing mattered.  At the moment, Alexis just wanted to die.

She made a feeble attempt to stand and pull her blouse together.  The buttons had been ripped off and she was only able to fasten her bra, in her attempt to cover her chest.  Every inch of her body was sore and bruised.  She cried out in pain when she took her first step.  Every step was painful and tears ran down her cheek freely, while she made her way to the road.  Her hands were shaking, her head was spinning and her stomach was turning.  She only made in a few feet before becoming sick in the grass.  She thought about giving up and staying there until she died of hunger or thirst but her will was too strong to let two men rob her of her life.  They had taken too much already, she wasn’t about to let them take everything.

Alexis didn't attempt to stand up again.  She didn't have the strength.  She crawled back to the road, and sat down, her knees pulled against her chest with her head resting on her knees.  She needed to gather more strength to keep moving.

A few moments past and Alexis still hadn’t moved.  She was so tired.  If she could just rest for a little while longer, she would feel like moving again.  She heard a car approaching and lifted her head.  The car was slowing down and pulled up right in front of where she was sitting.  Alexis panicked.  She thought it was the men coming back for more.  And she couldn’t move.

"Alexis?"

"Stay away form me!" Alexis screamed, having a flashback of rape.  She wasn't seeing the person that was talking to her at the moment.

"My God Alexis, you’re her," a familiar voice exclaimed.

"Please don't hurt me again!" Alexis begged.

"I would never hurt you, Alexis," Jax said, brushing his fingers across her cheek.

Alexis jumped at the touch.  "Please don't!"

"Shh, it's okay.  It’s me, Alexis.  It’s Jax!"

"Jax?" Alexis said, really looking at him for the first time.  Jax’ concerned face finally penetrated her mind and she relaxed slightly as Jax put his arm around her.

"Jax, what are you doing here?"Alexis asked, as he picked her up.

"Did you think I would like my best friend get married without me?" Jax asked, trying to keep his tone light.

"Oh my god, Jax, I can't marry Ned now.  Not after what happened tonight!" Alexis whispered, pulling her blouse closed across her chest.

"Shh Alexis, don’t think about that right now.  I need to get you to the hospital.

Alexis panicked again.  She couldn't go to General Hospital, everyone would know, but more importantly Ned would know and she never wanted him to know about this.

"No Jax.  No hospital!"

"Alexis, you’re hurt.  You need to be checked out at the hospital!" Jax explained, helping her into his car.

"I can't be seen at General Hospital.  Ned will find out.”  Alexis bowed her head in shame.

"Alexis he loves you..." Jax started to, but Alexis shook her head.

"I know he does, .Jax but I can't tell him about this.  Please help me, Jax!"  Alexis pleading, meeting his gaze for the first time.  He saw the unshed tears in her eyes.  He wanted to kill whoever had done this to her.

"Of course I will help you."

"Thank you.  I'm really glad you’re back.  I missed by best friend," Alexis whispered.  Jax closed the passenger side door and walked around the car, getting in the driver’s seat.

"I’ve missed you too, Alexis."  Jax reached over and grasped Alexis’ hand and squeezed it lightly, offering her a smile.  She squeezed his hand in return and a slight smile turned up the corners of her mouth.  He vowed that he would help her get through this anyway way that he could.

Jax drove Alexis to the women’s clinic just outside the city limits of Port Charles.  He hoped that she would let one of the doctors there examine her.
