Part 1

Port Charles Docks

He watched from the shadows as Alexis walked along the docks. Her thoughts were on Sonny and his whereabouts. She hated to admit it, but she was worried about him and she was furious with Ned for accusing her of having feelings for him other than friendship.

Alexis looked around, having the eerie feeling that someone was watching her.  She didn't see anything out of ordinary and started on her way again.  He moved out of the darkness and approached.

Alexis sensed someone behind her and stepped up the pace of her walk.  Her heart was pounding.  She was terrified.  Sonny had warned her about being on the docks after dark alone.  But did she listen?  Of course not.  She heard a pair of footsteps getting closer to her.  She ran but wasn't fast enough.  He covered her mouth with something.  Her eyes started to close as her head became light and then all was silent.

Unknown Location

She heard voices around her but she couldn't stay focused on them for long.  The medication fog would over take her and everything would fade away again.  She could feel a hand gently running through her hair.  She had to know where she was and who was there with her.  She pushed past the sleepiness and opened her eyes.

"Hi sleepy head," he said with a warm smile.

Alexis sat up, looking around the room.  She wasn't sure where she was but she knew it wasn't Port Charles.

"What's going on?" she finally asked, her voice barely a whisper.  Her throat was so dry.

"Take it easy.  You’re okay," he assured her, pouring her a much needed glass of water.
Alexis looked at him, a part of her happy to see him.  "Jax, what’s going on here?  Why are we here?  And where is here?” she asked.

Jax smiled but didn't answer her.  "You should sleep.  We can talk about everything later.  You’re safe with me.  I promise."

Alexis studied his handsome face.  She could tell there were things that he wasn't ready to talk about but she needed answers now!.  "I'm not sleepy.  I want to know what I’m doing here!"

Jax sighed.  He knew that was coming.  He turned to meet her intense gaze.  "I brought you here to protect you," Jax said, still holding her gaze.  He watched as the emotions played out on her face; first shock and then pure anger.  He wasn’t prepared for her outburst that followed his explanation.

She couldn't believe what he was saying.  "YOU?"

Jax smiled sheepishly.  "Yep," he managed to get out before she slapped him hard across the face.

"You scared me to death.  And for what?" Alexis demanded, as she pushed the covers back and climbed out of bed.  She needed to move around.  Pacing always helped her to put her thoughts in order.

"I'm sorry about that but it was the only way.  I knew you wouldn't come otherwise."

Alexis looked at him as if he had lost his mind.  "So you decided to kidnap me?  Are you insane???”

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry doesn't cut it Jax.  Why did you bring me here and where are we anyway?" Alexis asked.

"Venice."

Alexis opened and closed her mouth several times, trying to find the proper words.

"You’re in over your head.  I can't believe you’ve gotten yourself so deeply involved with Corinthos, even after everything he’s done!" he said, furious with her and her choices.

"You bastard!  How dare you!" Alexis screamed.

"Alexis.." Jax said, holding up his hands in a surrender gesture.

"You took me out of the country because of *your* hatred for Sonny!" Alexis said shocked and deeply hurt by his lack of faith in her.

"No.  I took you away from Port Charles because of my concern for you and your safety!" he yelled, letting his anger get the best of him.

"I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself!"

"Are you sure?  Because where I’m standing you haven't been doing too good of a job!" he spat without thought.

"What the hell do you know about my life?  You haven't even been around for almost a year now!"

"I have my ways," he said a little quieter.  He sighed and walked toward her trying to calm down.

He knew that he’d hit a nerve.  Her life wasn't in the best shape at the moment with all that was going on with her and Ned.  "I have to keep a eye on you Alexis because you’re my friend and I worry about you."

"What?  You’ve had me watched?" she asked incredulously.

"No, of course not, but I’ve kept in touch with Ned and I know how hurt he was when the two of you didn't get married."

"Oh," Alexis said, her anger dissipating slightly.  "So you decided to kidnap me for my own good?"

"As a matter of fact I did!" he admitted.

"Well I wish I could say it’s been fun but it hasn't.  And now I’m leaving!" Alexis announced, pushing away from him.

"I'm sorry but you can't leave just yet!" Jax informed.  She turned and gave him a challenging stare, which he accepted.  They each held their ground: he was determined to keep her there and she was just as determined to return home.

"You can't keep me here against my will."

"Please," he whispered.

Alexis felt herself beginning to waver at his simple plea.  She could see that he was truly frightened for her.  "Jax," She sighed, her eyes closed.

"Forty-eight hours."

Alexis looked at him, a question burning in her eyes.

"Stay with me for two days.  And after that you can go anywhere you like.  Please!"

Alexis looked into his blue eyes, seeing something familiar in them from their marriage.  Something she had always been afraid of...until now.  She wasn't sure what had come over her but she decided to go with it.  Be a little spontaneous and daring.  Something Alexis Davis was not.

"Okay, I’ll give you your two days," she said, hands planted firmly on her hips.  "What do you think, that you can change my mind about Sonny and Ned in two days?  I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

Jax flashed her a dazzling smile, as he moved in closer to her.  "I know how stubborn you are, but...”

"Then why do I have to stay?" Alexis whined.  He was totally confusing her.  He tugged a piece of her hair behind her ear and they were both reminded of their time as man and wife by that simple gesture.  Their eyes locked as he touched her cheek.

"Two days are all I need to make you fall in love with me," Jax finished.

Alexis gasped in shock and laughed.  "You can't be serious!"

"Oh I think you know me well enough to know when I'm serious and when I’m joking," he said, knowing she knew him better than anyone.

"What are you saying?" she asked, suddenly terrified by the very thought.  She had always had a special place in soul for Jax since the episode in the Sahara.  But to fall in love with him?  It wasn’t possible.  Was it?

"I love you and I'm going to make you see just how amazing we can be together!" he said as he walked to the door.  "Dinner will be ready in an hour.  There are clothes in the closet you can choose from," he informed her before closing the door.

Alexis couldn't believe that Jax had kidnaped her .  More unbelievable than that was his silly notion that he thought that he could make her fall in love with him.  It was preposterous!  "Well it’s not going to happen!" Alexis vowed.  She noticed her reflection in a nearby mirror and even as she vowed to stay strong to his advances, she could already feel her heart vowing something different.
