| Everywhere Turn it inside out so I can see The part of you that's drifting over me And when I wake you're never there But when I sleep you're everywhere You're everywhere It was a cold rainy Friday night in Port Charles. Alexis Davis had just walked into her penthouse. It had been a long day and her mood was a lot like the weather, cold and gloomy. She kicked off her shoes and draped her wet coat on the back of her desk chair. Alexis looked around her home, an overwhelming sense of loneliness consuming her. “Popcorn for one,” she thought sadly heading up the stairs for a long hot bath. An Hour Later... Alexis came downstairs after her bath, wearing her favorite sweater and jeans. She had her auburn hair pulled up in a neat ponytail. She picked up her mail and was about to sort through it, when the phone rang. She sighed, hoping that it wasn’t a client in trouble. She didn’t want to have to venture out in the storm again. She rolled her eyes when the telemarketer came on the line, promising to solve all her credit problems. She wasn’t in the mood for that tonight. She hung up the phone and turned off the ringer. The smooth rhythm of the rain hitting the window was relaxing and drew her in. She let her thoughts wonder freely and they settled on the man that lived across the hall. Alexis frowned, Sonny seemed to be invading her thoughts a lot lately. And it was something that she wasn’t proud of. He was after all, a married man. Alexis watched the rain splatter against the window. She could see her reflection in the window and for a moment, she wasn't sure who she was. So much had happened in the recent months. Her sister had been returned to her thanks to Jax. Alexis had mix feelings about Kristina and Ned's closeness. She had seen that look in Ned’s eyes before, when he used to look at her. She knew they didn't have a future together and if her sister could provide him with the happiness that she couldn’t, who was she to stand in their way? She hugged herself tightly, feeling a chill pass through her. Her thoughts went back to Sonny and she groaned inwardly. He had been there for her like no one else. He didn’t place demands on her or expect more of her than she could give. Sonny was all she thought of lately,in fact he'd even been invading her dreams. An unexpected knock at the door ended her thoughts. Alexis looked at the door perplexed. No one came to visit her and especially not at this time of night. Just tell me how I got this far Just tell me why you're here and who you are 'Cause every time I look You're never there And every time I sleep You're always there “Sonny!” she said, the surprise clearly shown on her face and heard in her voice. “Hey,” he greeted, offering her a dimpled smile. “You busy?” “No, come in,” Alexis replied, moving aside to let him in. “I thought you were out of town?” “I got back earlier than I originally planned,'' Sonny explained, taking his usual spot on her couch. “So Angel's safe,” Alexis assumed, knowing that she had been his pressing business. He smiled sheepishly at her before answering her question. “Yes she's safe.” Cause you're everywhere to me And when I close my eyes it's you I see You're everything I know That makes me believe I'm not alone I'm not alone Alexis didn’t comment but joined him on the couch. She noticed him watching her closely and it made her very nervous. “What?” “You look cute,” Sonny remarked with a smile. Alexis felt a blush rising in her and she suddenly felt like a schoolgirl. “Cute?” she asked unable to hide the smile that formed. “I don’t think I've ever seen you in jeans before. They definitely suit you.” I recognize the way you make me feel It's hard to think that, You might not be real I sense it now; the water's getting deep I try to wash the pain away from me Away from me Sonny’s words caused her breath to hitch and she didn't know what to do with her hands. She brought them to her face and then back down to her lap. “Oh, have you seen Carly?” she asked quickly, changing the subject. She knew he loved his wife and that her feelings for him were one sided. He would only see her as a friend and his lawyer. Cause you're everywhere to me And when I close my eyes it's you I see You're everything I know That makes me believe I'm not alone I'm not alone I am not alone Whoa, oh, oooh, oh “I don’t know, I haven’t spoken to her yet.” Sonny was tried of thinking about Carly and their marriage. Love shouldn’t be this hard, Sonny thought, while looking at the woman beside him. He smiled at the adorable look on her face. He was making her nervous again. He wondered if she was aware that she had the same effect on him on the inside. Sonny was just too cool to let it show. :-) “Oh.” Alexis said softly, looking down at her trembling hands resting in her lap. “I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want and the more I think about continuing my life with Carly, it gives me a headache. All we do is hurt each other and I don’t want to do that anymore. We both deserve better,'' Sonny explained. "Right?" “You’re asking me?” she asked with a laugh. “Sonny, I don’t have a very good track record in the romance department, in case you haven’t noticed.” Alexis stood suddenly walking back to her spot in front of the window. Sonny closed his eyes, he hadn't meant to upset her. He had hoped that it would lead them into a conversation about their new feelings for one another. “Alexis look at me,” Sonny requested moving toward her. Alexis let her eyes drift shut. She knew he was approaching her. Her heart was pounding so hard in her chest. “Why?” she whispered. And when I touch your hand It's then I understand The beauty that's within It's now that we begin You always light my way I hope there never comes a day No matter where I go I always feel you so “Why?” Sonny repeated, not sure what she meant. “Why are you here Sonny? Why are you asking me things that you know I have no answers to? Why do you make me feel things that I shouldn’t?” Alexis yelled and gasped in shock when she realized what she'd just said. “How do I make you feel Alexis?” Sonny asked with a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. “I don’t know Sonny! Something that I shouldn’t feel.” “Why shouldn't you feel whatever you feel?” Sonny asked touching her chin, causing her to look into his dark eyes. “Your heart already belongs to someone else,” Alexis said sadly, her eyes desperately trying to escape his intense ones. “I don’t know where my heart belongs anymore,” he admitted, his fingers brushing her lips lightly. “Sonny please.” Alexis didn’t want to hear this. She couldn’t set herself up to be hurt like she knew she would be, but she knew deep down that Sonny would never hurt her on purpose. Cause you're everywhere to me And when I close my eyes it's you I see You're everything I know That makes me believe I'm not alone 'Cause you're everywhere to me And when I catch my breath It's you I breathe You're everything I know That makes me believe I'm not alone Sonny knew that she was frightened. He could see it in her eyes and hear it in her voice. But he couldn’t stop. They were so close to discovering something wonderful, he was sure of it. “Alexis, I know you’re afraid of this. Of us. So am I. I have debated long and hard about you and your role in my life,'' Sonny said, he paused to brush her tears away. “I want more.” He brushed his lips over hers lightly. “Oh,” Alexis sighed getting lost in his sweet kiss momentarily. She pulled away looking into his loving eyes. She touched his face, memorizing every detail of his face before taking a leap of faith with her heart. “I want more too Sonny.” You're in everyone I see. So tell me do you see me? The blinders were off and they were able to look at each other in a new light. Neither knew what the future would hold for them. And it didn’t really matter. All that mattered was the present.
