"Women," Sonny muttered, as he fixed himself a drink and walked to the window, looking out at the city. He shook his head, looking back toward the stairs and thinking about Carly and her outrageous statement. Maybe she was right. He just didn't get it!

Carly leaned against the bedroom door with tears streaming down her face, as images of Sonny and Alexis - them standing so close, him whispering words of comfort - flashed through her mind. She wiped her tears away angrily. "Damn you, Alexis!" Carly cursed, as she laid down across the bed and cried.

Sonny swallowed the last of his liquor and sighed. He had seen the hurt in her eyes but for the life of him, he didn't understand it. Why was she so upset about his friendship with Alexis? And why did
she need to know everything,even about the things that would only hurt her. Why?

Carly turned over in bed, looking up at the ceiling. The more she thought about it, she realized Alexis wasn't the problem, Sonny was. He let Alexis do whatever she pleases. If Alexis disrespects Carly,
Sonny says nothing. Whenever he has a problem, he goes to her. New tears formed, as she realized just how much of their lives was approved and unapproved by Alexis Davis. And the worst part was that Sonny was the one who asked for it and seem to need it. Where do I fit in? she questioned herself.

Sonny wasn't sure what to say, but he couldn't leave things like they were. He headed up the stairs. He needed to understand Carly's feelings.

Carly climbed off the bed. She needed to know just what her role was in Sonny's life was, once and for all. She pulled open the door, just as he was about to knock, their eyes locking. Neither of them spoke a word, but their eyes spoke volumes. His were full of confusion and love. Her were full of anger, jealousy and love.

"We need to talk," they said in unison and both laughed nervously. She stepped aside, letting Sonny enter their bedroom.

"Carly, I'm sorry...I didn't mean to make you feel bad," he apologized, looking deep into her eyes.

"I know Sonny but you do it all the time," Carly admitted honestly.

"How?" Sonny asked in complete surprise.

"Sonny, it hurts when another woman knows more about what's going in your life, than I do. I'm your wife, not her," Carly said.

"I'm sorry. It's just that Alexis is my attorney. I share things with her because it's in my best interests to, not because I don't want to share them with you," Sonny said.

Carly didn't comment on his statement, only continuing to stare at him, so he continued. "I love you. And maybe you're right, I have been focusing so much on keeping you and Michael safe," Carly started shaking her head to stop him.

"I didn't mean that Sonny. I know you love me, here," Carly said, placing her hands over his heart. "I just have trouble remembering it here," she replied, pointing a finger at her head.

"Carly, Alexis is my attorney and a friend," Sonny said.

A tears slipped past Carly's guard and ran down her cheek. Sonny brushed it aside with his thumb. "You're the most important person in my life. I know it doesn't seem that way all time, but you are. I don't want to make the same mistake I made with Lily," Sonny admitted.

"I'm not Lily," Carly whispered.

"I know that, Carly. I just meant that I made so many mistakes with her and I don't want to repeat those mistakes with you. I love you and I need you. And I worry about my ability to keep you and Michael safe."

"That's your greatest fear, isn't it?" Carly asked.

"Yes. After Lily died, a part of me died with her, not even Brenda could reach that part of me. That's why I left her at the altar. I couldn't put myself through the pain of losing another wife," Sonny explained. He looked at her, tears were streaming down her face now.

"I'm sorry."

"No, don't you see. You gave me back my heart and the will to risk it again completely. I'm terrified of losing you, but at the same time, I couldn't walk away from what we have. There is only room in my heart for you!"

"Really?" Carly asked with a sob/laugh.

"Yes, really.." Sonny said, kissing her tears away. "I love you Carly and only you. No one means more to me than you!"
