| Elk River Conditions/Reports January 3rd 2009, Well if today was any indication of how things will go with the guiding this year then its gonna be a good one :) .... 1st trip of the year was a 1/2 day this afternoon and the river was smoking ! Hit the same runs I fished yesterday and it was a repeat performance by the Lady . We rocked em !!!! All 3 species (brook , brown and rainbow ) . We don't have a lot of brookies in the Elk so catching one in January is rare . Snowshoe stone up with a Heresy dropped off the back about 18" and it was off to the races . Several dozen on the dry but the vast majority fell for the "silver wonder" ....I don't think we went for 5 minutes any time this afternoon without catching a fish .
