Carl J. Swanlund and wife Christine Larson Swanlund

Carl J. Swanlund -emigrated from Sweden to Rush Lake, MN in 1876 where he worked on construction of a railroad which was to run between St. Paul and Duluth -moved to Valley Creek in 1881 and a year later moved to Afton -January 1894 married Christine Larson -was the prime mover in efforts to establish a Swedish Lutheran Church in Afton

Christine Larson Swanlund -born May 25, 1870 in Stackerud Eksharad, Varmland -died Feb. 1900

They had one child: Alfred Benjamin Swanlund

all three are buried in Evergreen Cemetery
