Charles Bolles
Charles was born in Oxford, Mass., the son of Erastus and Sophronia Bolles.  He was educated in Valley Creek School Dist. #39, then at the Boxell private school and finally the St. Croix Valley Academy at Afton.  He married Mary Churchill, and adopted the daughter of Lemuel Bolles in 1884.  Mary died in childbirth in 1886.  Charles married Addie Kellogg of Friendship, NY in 1889.  She died after the birth of their fourth child.

In 1904 Charles married Lillie Harriman Wilcox of Hudson.  She died in 1943, her only child was Evelyn Bolles Grant.  Charles was a teacher, blacksmith, manufacturer of farm tools, storekeeper, postmaster, clerk of townboard for 49 years, and a miller.  He called his mill the Valley Creek Roller Mill.
