As a parent looking for people to work with your children, and as a person looking to find work, I understand your concerns about the credibility of this website. Thus, I wish to provide you with a bit of information about myself.
I am a recent graduate of Simon Fraser University with a Joint Major in Business Administration and Psychology. I am now working full time in the administrastive field, but also working part time as a behavior interventionist (BI). I have been working as a BI for more than three years now, which is why I am fully aware of how gratifying this work experience is.
I am also very much aware of the many struggles that parents with autism face. Included in this list is the struggle to find people to work with their children. Likewise, I also know of many students who are looking to find part time jobs. With a lot of time on my hands, together with my interest in the internet and website building, I decided to create a website that would introduce the field of behavioral therapy to job seekers. By doing this, I am also hoping to help parents by generating a list of interested BI's.
All I have done so far is provide information about this website to the Psychology Departments and Clubs of different schools. The SFU Psychology department has been very kind enough to advertise this website to their mail list; thus, most people on the list on the website are students from SFU. I am still aiming to reach the students from other colleges and universities.
As I've mentioned in the main page of the website, you have to be aware that all I'm doing is creating a list of INTERESTED individuals. This does not imply that they are qualified. I have no information at all about these interested individuals, except for the fact that they would like to get into the field of behavior intervention.
