Although Vancouver

Although Vancouver's a place that's pretty
With lofty buildings and streets so level
Though others praise it as a place to live in
The land I left is to me still lovely

It's far up north mid the sea and mountains
The verdant island where I was brought up
Where I had friends and where, in my youth
I walked with pleasure its handsome hillsides.

I see the sands at the edge of the ocean
I see the cairn that's above the village
The herd of cattle being driven homeward
Whene'er the sun from my sight is sinking

But it's my hope if alive and healthy
That I will return to where I was youthful
Where I'd find comfort among my dear ones
I was so foolish the day I left there.
