Almonzo’s Quest

Techniques for Achieving Goals

If you hear your child ask, “May I please go to the agora?” don’t panic…that is just the ancient Greek coming out as they seek your permission to go to the mall.  We are currently exploring the research role of the writer of historical fiction in
Greek 2 Me. Students are working to create an authentic character from ancient Greece.  Throw in some descriptive writing, a “hook” for catching the reader’s interest, and a measure of revision and editing and you have the recipe for our Greek leads.

Great Cow Eye Caper:

Look out! Private Eye is not too far away and we will be dissecting our Cow Eyeballs the first week of May ( May 12-15.)  We are on the lookout for parent volunteers with a steady hand and calm spirit to help each day to insure a positive experience for the children. (This is an optional activity and your child may choose not to participate.) Please call the Center (703.494.3483), send in a note, or sign up at Family Night to let us know if you can help.

More Thoughts :
Many times parents ask, “What happens to my child for SIGNET in middle school?”  You will be pleased to know that there are no more forms to fill out or deadlines for applications. Your student continues in the program at a center that is located right in their middle school.  Yes, they still have research centers from which to choose, but the choices are different and often expand on the topics
The Flash                                                  April - May
covered in the elementary center contracts.  Information will be coming from the middle school centers regarding orientation meetings and open houses.  You may contact your child’s middle school for more information as each center has its own plan for helping with the transition.
