Students at last!!! The Center staff is happy to be past all that is involved with September identification.  We are excited about our T.A.G. unit this year, and if you were not with us at Open House, please take the time to look over a copy of the curriculum web on the reverse side of this newsletter.

We are rapidly approaching the gate to Awesome Almonzo’s Amazing Adventure land.   Expect to hear exciting tales as we take a virtual ride through an academic adventure theme park. Our first stop will be at Data Entry where we will examine different forms of data organization. Please keep all hands inside the car and make sure your lap belt is tightly fastened, as we will be traveling at warp speed. Look for future updates in our bi-monthly dispatch.

Family Night

Wednesday, October 17, 2007, will be our first Family Night of the year.  The Center will be open from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for you to drop by for an informal visit.  This is an opportunity for your child to share their Center experience and work with you.  If you can only come for a few minutes, that’s fine. Remember, the Center is open for Family Night four times a year.  Classroom teachers and administrators from home base schools are welcome to visit as well.

Also on the reverse, you will see a copy of our Daily Schedule.  As you can see,
we eat lunch at 11:00a.m..  Although this is
earlier, we will still allow children to have a healthy snack.  The holidays generally
The Flash                                                    Oct. - Nov.
bring out the sweet tooth in all of us, but please have your child bring something healthy…something that is not sticky or messy that would interfere with their work. Pretzels, carrot sticks, granola bars, trail mix or a banana would all work. Avoid high sugar, salty or greasy treats.

Reminders:

• Differentiated Services Plans (DSPs) will be ready for you at the parent conferences in November. These plans are a collaborative effort of your child’s classroom and Center resource teacher  Please sign both copies. One is for your records. The second is for your child’s work file.

• Fifth Grade Parents – keep an eye out in your mailbox for the Middle School Specialty Program Brochures.  Important information regarding Information night dates is included.

• With the cold and flu season already upon us, please remember that we cannot keep or dispense any medication at the Center without a PWCS form.  These are available at your base school’s front office. The medication must be in the original bottle with your child’s name clearly marked.  These will be passed along to the school nurse here at Lake Ridge Elementary.

Above all, please know what really terrific children you have and that we are available as a resource for you. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us or visit our Parents Resource page on our web site.
