Synaesthesia

syn·es·the·sia - The description of one kind of sense impression by using words that normally describe another; the neurological mixing of senses. (source- Dictionary Online ) (Apparently there are two acceptable spellings of the word- "synaesthesia" or "synesthesia."

Each of these may be combined with any of the other forms. The intensity of the colors or tastes may vary with each person or with the intensity and pitch of the sound, for example. Also, some synaesthetes have found that acupuncture or other similar treatments make the colors more vivid and more noticeable.
