Van reflecting on the TRC days..............

"The Recording Center was built to my design specifications in an industrial area of Helsingborg Sweden with acoustics in mind, it was a great sounding room. Just a little bit to far away from the centrum. Lot's of bands were coming anyway, despite the cold in the winter. The air filtration system was incredible with the fresh oresund air in the balanced, controlled environment mixing room, but sometimes heating the live room was a bit worthless. I started out with Johan Lundin helping, building, engineering and later on Mattias Simson, repairing, wiring and engineering. Both extremely talented guys. I wound up releasing a CD with most of the bands on it, Draft, Autumn Whales, Fungus Knees, Van Orbitson Band and some others. I spent a lot of time listening to an old shortwave radio I bought at a flea market, the BBC. I also rehearsed at the studio with my band, Callo on drums, and Heikki on bass. Even Tomas Poppe recorded at TRC. His father was the very famous Swedish actor/ comedian Nils Poppe. I remember recording a Turkish musician named Naim. He was great. The studio looked brand new when I had to tear it down, what a shame. The Misled recorded their first CD at TRC and Björn Fogelberg mixed 'Information' there which I had a guitar solo on. All in all there were some great experiences. Owning, engineering and producing at The Recording Center was a dream come true."
