AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY NEWS

Ladies,

We are still in shock over how well our FUNDRAISER
KICKOFF for MATTHEW DUVAL, the 11 year-old
brain-damaged boy that is wheelchair bound did. When
we had our first meeting, all our committee members
thought it would take at least a year to secure enough
donations to buy him a handicapped van. WELL WE Dill
IT IN FIVE WEEKS. We had an abundance of love and
donations given to Matthew in a short amount of time.
We purchased a van and had money left over for the
insurance, tags, etc. Enough money was left over for
whatever he needs for the van, gas for transportation
and other expenses. The Shriners Children’s Hospital
accepted and have evaluated Matthew. They will perform
operations and whatever help is needed.

Thanks to all that made donations and volunteered on
this fundraiser. Matthew and his grandmother will see
a light at the end of the tunnel now and their life
will be a little easier.

If you need to renew your membership for 2006, do so
now. Mail your dues to Louise Leonard, 106 S. Woodfin
Ct., Forest, VA 24551 in the amount of $30.00. Mail
your dues as soon as possible so we can sit on the
front row at the Department Convention instead of next
to the last row. Thanks to all of you that paid your
dues for 2006.
