| DM's Notes Like any DM I changed a few details. I kept the module as written except for two areas. I doubled most of the encounters so that the seven-player party could earn enough experience to achieve third level. I also found out that they are pretty tough combatants, so they needed a challenge anyway. I also changed some names because I thought they were, well, silly. Erky Timbers became Elgrin Timbers. Gnome healer Dem "Corky" Nackle became Brownwyn (Welsh, "fair breast") MacKirkwell (Old English, "of the church well"), a human. This race change also added some sexual tension and made things more interesting. I did not, however, forsee the trouble with the names Balsag (ball sag, ball sack) or Capt. Felosial (fellatio) but the guys got a kick out of it. One thing I regret was the tax thing. As an afterthought, I mentioned to the party, on their return to Oakhurst, that Furyondy imposes a 14% salvage tax on any treasure looted from ruins. This took on a life of its own and sapped valuable playing time away from the game. We went around and around with it, and I learned an important lesson: don't screw with the modules too much! |
