Les Vivres

Throughout history, humans have always fed themselves with what was surrounding them and research shows that gathering fruits, nuts, herbs and vegetables was the most simple, pleasant, and symbiotic of lifestyles.  Fear, agggression, and a less generous vegetation led to hunting.  Eating meat became, for some power-searching need, a symbol of supremacy, giving a sense of control.  But this lifestyle meant that animals were there for us to use and soon just imprisoning animals replaced hunting.  Farms developed and the food industry revolved around the production of meats.

Today, high tech machinery and chemicals have transfored this industry into a capitalist monster that takes more than it gives back.  We are witnessing the destruction of our environment; water contamination, eroded and demineralized soils, suffering animals and dozens of degenerative diseases linked to an animal-based diet.

Cheap fast food would simply not exist if it weren't subsidised by governments, and the larger the industry, the less respect is shown towards the animals ... so who is responsible - the industry, the governments, or the consumer?

In order to metabolize protiens and have a healthy cellular regeneration, our bodies need amino acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, essential fatty acids and calories.  All these nutrients are to be found in a plant-based diet.  Today, globalisation gives everybody access to such a diet.  Veganism is nutrition without any animal products, but it's more than that, its a way of life that demonstratees a deep love and serene confidence in our bodies, in harmony with Mother Nature and it's objective is freedom.  Politcially, it is a way to boycott disrespectful industries.  There are 13,000 new vegetarians every week in the US alone.
Veganism is not a trend, it is a solution.

As the forces of disparity and destruction are ruling our society, awareness is rising and new alternatives are within our reach.  These alternatives enabled us to re-evaluate everything and to create a helathy and dignified relationship with our environment and with each other, including animals.  It's up to each of us to open up to these new options and to work towards a better world.

Cheers to your evolution!

Bon appetit!

Vaselina would like everyone to know that she is NOW TRYING TO RETURN TO HER previous vegetarian lifestyle.  It's going pretty well, most days.

But having been vegetarian for nearly 7 years, she awoke one morning and wanted bacon.  And then came home from work wanting a pork chop and well, that was pretty much the end of that for awhile.

But reading over this little tidbit again kinda brought up a bunch of issues making her realize that it really was time to go back, for more reasons than just personal ones - it's also an answer that benefits everyone, even meat-eaters.  If we can reduce the demand for meat by increasing the number of vegans in the world, then quality of the meat will become higher and filled with less bovine growth hormones, antibiotics, etc. so that environmental consequences can be reduced too.

And she will always adhere to the
Fit For Life principal of eating fruit for breakfast every single day.  Once you've tried it you'll never go back!  Two pieces of fruit every morning and then a bagel or muffin before lunch is a low-to-no prep morning and so yummy and lively and good for you!!
