| What can somebody do who visits Syros ? Strolling the streets of Ermoypolis can admire the fabulous neo- classical buildings and squares Can visit the archeological museum at the City Hall. Can visit the "vaporia" neighbourhood, where he can admire the ship-owners mansions. The neighbourhood is named after the ship-owners living there (vapori means ship). Can see the Municipal Theater which looks like the Milano opera house. Can go to the "Markos Vamvakaris" museum, the famous popular music (rempetika) composer and singer. Can visit some churches! St. Nicolas, Metamorfosis of Sotiras, three Ierarhes and St. Dimitrios. At Ano Syros can visit the Cathedral of St. George and the two Monasteries the Isouities and Capoutsines. At Ermoupolis named after Hermes (Mercury-God of the Trade), one of the first places that you can see arriving at the port is the Casino.
