naif portaits of martyrs from  Iran-Iraq war left  outside a mosque after recent funerals in provicial area of Shiraz..although war is over since 1988,remains of Iranian  troops killed during that time are still found and identified by their metalic ID in the war zones....almost in every city and town of Iran one can notice wall portraits and posters of martyrs together with  Ayatolah Homeinis' and other spiritual leaders' portraits and mottos ...

atop of  two rocky hills in the desert outskirts of Yazd, "Towers of Silence" (Dakhma) is the place where,since ancient times, Zoroastrians used to dispose corpses of their dead people by leaving the carcasses exposed to carnivorous birds and sun rays to be torn apart,eaten and burnt to the bone...the custom was banned few decades ago during last shah Reza Pahlevi's time. situated opposite to  ancient "Towers of Silence", is the new Zoroastrian cemetery of Yazd  where nowadays Zoroastrian burry their deads in cement graves in order to follow the rule of their religion (alike on the forbidden by shah Reza Pahlevi Towers of Silence) which does not allow contact and contamination of the ground by decompossing bodies.
