THE ETHICS OF SPELL CASTING

"An it harm none, do as ye will"

If  you follow the "Law of Three" and "The Wiccan Rede", there is no incentive to do harm.  Why would you cast a negative spell if one believes that the spell will come back to them three-times as powerful as the original spell!

The ethics of magic involve questions about affecting the will of others. It is a matter of whether or not to cast a spell that may cause someone to act or go against their will in order to satisfy yours. A simplified example is whether or not to make someone fall in love with you. In making someone fall in love with you, you may be forcing them to ignore their will. That person may not want to be in love with you, no matter how much you love them. In making yourself happy, you may make someone else unhappy. And don't think that just because you made this person fall in love with you that it will be a perfect romance. Often it begins that way, but eventually it turns nasty...sometimes even dangerous or deadly. People do not like being puppets, and that's exactly what you make them when you force your will on them. Once they have figured out what's been going on, they'll be extremely angry and hurt...and when someone feels like that, anything is possible.

The ethics of magic comes down to following our own moral standards. It's one thing to affect our own life, but it's quite another to affect someone else's. Only you can accept or deny your personal responsibility in using magic.
