HOW THE LIES GOT STARTED
We've all heard it a thousand time...."The Bible is clear
on Witchcraft that it is not be tolerated" Blaaaa....to begin with,
the King James version of the bible is just that! His
"version".....it's called that for a reason ya know, he ordered his
scribes to make changes when writing the bible. It was recognized as early as
1584 by Reginald Scot...that a "mistranslation" of the word
"chasaph" had been place in the bible. The original word in Hebrew,
chasaph, means "poisoner", it does not "Witch". a
poisoner could ruin a well and kill many people and livestock King James was extremely
paranoid of Witches (check out his book, Deamonologie), and he deliberately had
his scribes alter the text of the Bible to provide grounds for the extermination
of Witches. (Also, the "Witch" of Endor was originally the Woman of
Endor).
These incorrect translations are still being used in the same way today.
A little of this and that:
The term "Pagan" is derived from the Latin "paganus," meaning "of the country, of a village, rustic, etc". Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary confuses this issue by defining the word as "country dweller, heathen, a follower of a polytheistic religion". In common belief, the pagan label seems to include polytheism, new-agers, some Christian, most non-Christians.
The term 'warlock' actually means 'oath-breaker'; it's used to describe someone whose word cannot be trusted. To call someone a warlock is a serious to Pagans as our integrity and truthfulness is kept in high regard. The term 'witch' is correctly used for both male and female.
